Requirements
  • Licensed to practice independently as a professional counselor in Texas or able to obtain license within one year if licensed in another state; for Clinical Social Work, Licensed to practice independently as a Clinical Social Worker in Texas or able to obtain license within one year if licensed in another state; for Psychology, Licensed to practice independently as a Psychologist in Texas or able to obtain license within one year if licensed in another state; if provisionally licensed, must obtain full license within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling to students presenting with substance use / misuse and dependency issues, crisis intervention, and prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Conduct initial assessments of students' presenting concerns and provide short-term counseling.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement programmatic interventions addressing psycho-social mental health needs of students; identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups; initiate advertising/recruitment and screening for group; facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement; demonstrate knowledge about group counseling or seek appropriate training.
  • Review client records to determine progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services; maintain current clinical documentation; coordinate referrals between CMHC and university or community service providers.
  • Provide clinical consultation to others and provide urgent care services as necessary; work collaboratively with CMHC multidisciplinary staff and other university departments.
  • Develop linkages with key contacts to generate substantial student participation in programmatic interventions; provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns and practicum students; supervise interns and practicum students, co-leaders, and within training seminars; participate in training-related committees and orientation activities.
  • Attend and participate in departmental meetings and staff development programs; participate in prevention and outreach team meetings; comply with CMHC and UT policies; may be assigned other relevant duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two years of experience in providing brief individual therapy to college students in a university counseling center; two or more years of experience with substance use / misuse and dependency issues; demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary team; expertise in ACT, CBT, and/or DBT; experience with marginalized identities; ability to work with campus personnel; ability to work within a large system; licensed for two years.
