This Endowed Chair position supports a distinguished nurse who will advance knowledge, through education, research and scholarship, complementing the vision, mission and priority areas of the College of Nursing. The College has a steep tradition to excellence in education, research, and practice through innovative programs that are responsive to current and emerging healthcare challenges. The College is widely recognized for its leadership in community health and engagement including populations residing in rural and underserved areas. Job Description
Provide visionary leadership in reducing health inequities/disparities in vulnerable populations or in addressing health care disparities. The person selected for this position is expected to maintain an extramurally funded program of research and promote the translation of research findings through scholarship to inform practice and policy improvement and which demonstrates how nursing research positively impacts patient outcomes. Educational responsibilities include mentoring, advising/chairing and/or serving on graduate student committees, and which support the teaching mission of the college, related to areas of expertise. Additional responsibilities include inspiring, mentoring, and serving as a resource in grantsmanship for fellows and faculty to progress their research and scholarship endeavors; service on college and university committees; and service at the regional, national, and international professional level. The Endowed Chair will collaborate with other regional, state, national, and international leaders to advocate to improve the health care and quality of life and address health disparities and inequality of individuals, across the lifespan, within communities and vulnerable populations.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications: The qualified candidate must have an earned research doctorate in nursing (PhD, DNSc, DNS) or related discipline and must be eligible for the university rank of associate or full professor. The ideal candidate should be a nationally recognized investigator with a distinguished record of extramural/federal funding, proven record of prominent scholarship and leadership in working with vulnerable populations or in addressing health care disparities; and have the ability to attract doctoral and postdoctoral scholars. Additionally, the candidate must have experience and successful track record of teaching, including on-line education, and mentoring students at the doctoral level. Must be eligible for Registered Nurse licensure in South Carolina, as appopriate.
