Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Five years of related experience are required.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications is required.
  • Knowledge of University, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and policies, including the Family Education Rights Privacy Act, is required.
  • The ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others is required.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Travel is required.
Responsibilities
  • Implement certification standards and discuss, disseminate, and interpret certification requirements with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
  • Research and prepare deficiency plans for professional certification.
  • Verify students’ successful completion of admission or registration requirements for acceptance into the program and field-based studies.
  • Clear and approve students for Student Teaching and provide final clearance for certificate applications.
  • Submit data online to the Texas Education Agency for issuance of students’ teaching or professional certificates and confirm completions online.
  • Complete data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain the TK-20 System related to students and their status in the Teacher Education Program.
  • Verify the eligibility status of students registering for Texas Examinations of Educator Standards exams or other accredited certifying bodies.
  • Serve on committees and participate in faculty meetings to provide information required by faculty and special requests from students.
  • Serve as a liaison between public school district personnel and the University regarding preparation programs and verification of University and State rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate the certification testing process, including logistics, scheduling, and proctor placement.
  • Determine instructor and proctor eligibility.
  • Organize large test events.
  • Recruit, hire, and train new testing instructors and proctors.
  • Supervise wage and student employees.
