Responsibilities
  • Examine shipments and compare them with invoices or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Record shipment data, determine space requirements, position shipments, and manage damage or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, and record-keeping purposes.
  • Prepare work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials.
  • Correspond with established representatives to rectify problems such as damages or shortages.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, online shipping services, or postage meters.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all store departments to provide daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members.
  • Help resolve customer issues and complaints and escalate problems to the management team when necessary.
  • Assist in daily store operations with the management team and act as Manager-on-Duty in the manager's absence or at satellite locations.
  • Assist with assigning work and providing focused direction to team members to manage and accomplish multiple projects and ensure proper workload execution.
  • Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments when needed.
  • Work at least 30 hours weekly year-round for the full-time position, with schedules set or varied according to store needs.
  • Perform routine housekeeping, including dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.
  • Move frequently within the store to access departments, areas, or products.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Lift frequently and occasionally reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.

Barnes & Noble Education shares jumped 19.7% on Thursday following a mixed preliminary Q4 2026 earnings report and dividend announcement. The company expects approximately $263 million in revenues, below the $295 million analyst consensus and down from $278.3 million year-on-year.
