Most Texans say they're happy with their electricity provider. New data from Base Power shows 7 in 10 are overpaying for electricity.

Most Texans say they're happy with their electricity provider. New data from Base Power shows 7 in 10 are overpaying for electricity. 8 Aprile 2026 Base Power launches Base Energy, a new electricity plan designed to save the majority of Texans on their monthly electricity bill. AUSTIN, Texas-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Base Power today announced the launch of Base Energy, its new electricity plan that is guaranteed to stay below the market average. It's the next step in the company's mission to deliver affordable, reliable power to all Texans. Base Power members pay less because of their unique business model. While traditional providers profit from quiet rate increases and hidden fees, Base operates a fleet of home batteries that generate revenue by supporting the Texas grid. Those earnings come back to members in the form of a low, fixed rate, guaranteed to stay below market. The launch follows new data from the company showing a disconnect in the Texas electricity market: while 81% of Texans report being satisfied with their provider, 7 in 10 households are overpaying for electricity. "Base Energy customers balance the load on our home batteries, and together they form a distributed power plant that keeps the lights on and bills low for all Texans. That's how we guarantee a below-market rate, not just at signup, but at every renewal," said Zach Dell, CEO and co-founder of Base Power. Base Energy is now available across major Texas utility territories - including Oncor, CenterPoint, TNMP, and AEP - serving Dallas-Fort Worth, Greater Houston, and other key population centers statewide. This marks the company's first offering that does not require a home battery. To see how much you could save, visit basepowercompany.com/energy. These findings are based on a March 2026 consumer survey conducted of Texas residents in deregulated electricity markets, as well as an analysis of thousands of electricity bills submitted through Base Power's rate comparison tool. The bill comparison is made up of a sample of Texans that submitted their bill on Base Power's website and may not be representative of all Texas electricity consumers. About Base Power Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Base Power is an energy company building a grid for the future. The company's mission is to advance human prosperity through energy abundance - delivering reliable and affordable power for all. Learn more at www.basepowercompany.com.

Base Power launches electricity plan guaranteed below market average as 7 in 10 Texans overpay

Base Power has launched Base Energy, an electricity plan guaranteed to stay below market average, and released data showing 70% of Texas households overpay for electricity despite 81% reporting satisfaction with their providers. The Austin-based company operates a fleet of home batteries that generate revenue by supporting the Texas grid, passing savings to customers through fixed rates below market prices. Base Energy is available across major Texas utility territories including Oncor, CenterPoint, TNMP and AEP, serving Dallas-Fort Worth, Greater Houston and other population centres. This marks Base Power's first offering that doesn't require a home battery. Founded in 2023, the company analysed thousands of electricity bills and conducted a March 2026 consumer survey to support its findings.

Babcock & Wilcox (BW) hits 7-year high on 70% price target upgrade, strong earnings.

Babcock & Wilcox (BW) hits 7-year high on 70% price target upgrade, strong earnings. Published on march 18, 2026 at 3:17 am by angelica ballesteros in news. Babcock & Wilcox soared to a new seven-year high on Tuesday, as investors digested its strong earnings performance last year, with net losses shrinking by 39 percent, while taking path from an investment firm's 70-percent price target for its stock. In intra-day trading, Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (NYSE:BW) soared to its highest price of $14.93 before paring a few cents to finish the session just up by 26.92 percent at $14.90 apiece. In a market note, investment firm Northland raised its price target for the stock to $17 from $10 previously, while keeping an "outperform" rating. It said that the upgrade was to better reflect what the firm sees as the value in relation to the long-term potential of building new power assets. Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (NYSE:BW) earlier this month said that it has officially secured the green light for the development of a $2.4 billion power generation project for Base Electron to supply power to Applied Digital Corp.'s AI factory campuses. Under the agreement, Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (NYSE:BW) will engineer, procure, and construct four 300-MW natural gas-fired boilers and steam turbine generator systems for Base Electron, a company backed by Applied Digital. Meanwhile, it tapped Siemens Energy to design and supply the steam turbine generator sets. In other news, Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (NYSE:BW) announced a strong earnings performance last year, with net loss attributable to shareholders shrinking by 39 percent to $36.2 million from $59.9 million in 2024. Revenues inched up by 1.1 percent to $587.7 million from $581 million year-on-year. While we acknowledge the risk and potential of BW as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and doing so within a shorter time frame. CoServ and Base Power launch 100MW residential battery storage program in North Texas

Base Power has partnered with CoServ, a Denton County electric cooperative serving over 330,000 meters, to deploy 100 MW of residential battery storage across North Texas. The agreement represents Base's largest deal and creates one of Texas's largest cooperative-led distributed residential energy storage programmes. Base Power will install networked battery systems in qualifying homes, providing residents with whole-home backup power during outages whilst giving CoServ dispatchable capacity for peak demand management. CoServ will control the battery fleet using Base's algorithms, whilst Base handles installation and maintenance. Founded in 2023 and based in Austin, Base Power has now established five utility partnerships in Texas. The batteries can be paired with existing residential solar systems or powered directly from the grid.

CoServ and Base Power Launch 100 MW Residential Storage Program to Bring North Texas Homeowners Affordable Battery Backup Power

CoServ and Base Power launch 100 MW residential storage program to bring North Texas homeowners affordable battery backup power. DALLAS-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Base Power today announced a new collaboration with Denton County Electric Cooperative (CoServ), a member-owned electric cooperative serving more than 330,000 electric meters, to deploy 100 MW of residentially-sited battery storage across CoServ's North Texas service territory. The agreement is Base's largest to date and creates one of the largest distributed residential energy storage programs led by a Texas electric cooperative. Through the program, Base Power will deploy a fleet of networked residential battery systems in CoServ's service region, providing CoServ with dispatchable capacity to support the grid during periods of high electricity demand and strengthen the grid infrastructure. The batteries will be installed at qualifying residential homes and provide affordable whole-home backup power to those residents during outages. "Distributed energy storage is becoming an increasingly important tool for utilities navigating load growth, extreme weather, and infrastructure constraints," said Gary Franzen, Chief Energy Resources Officer at CoServ. "This collaboration with Base Power allows us to add flexible, cost-effective capacity while maintaining operational control and delivering tangible reliability benefits for our Members at an affordable price." Under the program, CoServ will manage the battery fleet by dispatching during peak hours to shave load and perform energy arbitrage using Base's proprietary algorithms. Base Power handles system installation and ongoing maintenance, enabling CoServ to deploy capacity efficiently without adding operational complexity. For homeowners with existing solar systems, Base can pair the battery to be powered either by the member's solar system or by the grid, depending on availability. "By aggregating residential batteries into a utility-controlled resource, CoServ can strengthen reliability, manage peak demand, and ultimately improve affordability for its Members, all while providing reliable outage protection," said Zach Dell, CEO of Base Power. "We're proud to partner with CoServ in bringing 100 MW of flexible, reliable capacity to its system." This effort marks Base's fifth utility collaboration in Texas and builds on a proven model of rapidly bringing new capacity online while protecting homeowners from widespread outages.
