About the Remote Command Centre (RCC)
The BGIS Remote Command Centre (RCC) is a technology-driven hub that leverages advanced analytics, real-time monitoring, and expert interventions to optimise building performance remotely. By utilising a team of subject matter experts, the RCC reduces operational costs, improves energy efficiency, enhances occupant comfort, and supports clients in achieving sustainability goals.
Key RCC functions include:
- 24/7 monitoring of critical building systems
- Remote interventions to resolve inefficiencies
- Management and reporting of operational risks
- Support for IoT mobilisation and smart building technologies
- Continuous improvement through data-driven insights
Purpose of Job
The RCC Operative is responsible for the proactive monitoring and remote optimisation of building systems. Using real-time data from Building Management Systems (BMS), Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) platforms, and IoT telemetry, the RCC Operative identifies inefficiencies, executes first-line interventions, and supports on-site teams to maintain and enhance building performance.
This role ensures reduced energy consumption, improved occupant comfort, operational resilience, and compliance with sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Real-Time Monitoring & Issue Identification
- Monitor BMS, HVAC, lighting, and IoT systems for anomalies, inefficiencies, and operational risks.
- Triage and resolve first-stage BMS issues, escalating when necessary.
- Analyse telemetry data to maintain optimal environmental conditions.
- Workflow Triage & Closure
- Receive, log, prioritise, and manage RCC service requests through the workflow management system.
- Ensure timely closure of RCC tickets and interventions in line with defined SLAs. (Client Specific)
- Verify completion of actions and provide feedback to stakeholders.
- Reporting & Impact Analysis
- Produce clear and timely reports detailing interventions raised by the RCC, actions taken, and closures achieved.
- Quantify the impact of RCC interventions, such as response time, resolution time, first-time fix rate, energy savings, improved system performance, or reduced operational risk.
- Track and communicate trends in recurring issues to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to monthly/quarterly client reports highlighting RCC performance metrics and key insights.
- Remote Intervention & Coordination
- Apply remote interventions to correct system inefficiencies.
- Coordinate with on-site teams and external contractors for complex interventions.
- Record all interventions for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Performance Optimisation
- Adjust and fine-tune FDD rules to suit specific site conditions.
- Recommend control strategy enhancements to minimise energy waste.
- Contribute to continuous commissioning and operational excellence initiatives.
- IoT & Smart Building Support
- Assist with IoT device integration and telemetry management.
- Provide technical support for IoT overlays and system troubleshooting.
- Collaborate on smart building technology deployments.
- Continuous Improvement
- Collect client and team feedback to refine RCC processes.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices.
- Contribute to RCC knowledge-sharing and playbooks.
- Compliance & Security
- Follow strict change control processes for all BMS and smart system adjustments.
- Ensure data integrity, cybersecurity, and operational compliance.
- Maintain accurate audit trails of system access and configuration changes.
Essential System Knowledge
The RCC Operative must have working knowledge of the following:
- Building Management Systems (TREND, Tridium Niagara, or similar).
- Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) platforms.
- IoT telemetry and device management systems.
- Energy management dashboards and analytics tools.
- Understanding of HVAC, lighting, and critical building services.
