Requirements
  • High school education with 6–9 years of experience, or commensurate experience.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP.
  • Basic proficiency in Python programming.
  • Foundational experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Data Store or comparable GIS data management tools.
  • Operational understanding of system lifecycle management, infrastructure engineering, and configuration management baselines.
  • Proficiency tracking engineering tasks and system configuration dependencies using enterprise tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or ServiceNow.
  • Ability to complete the U.S. Coast Guard Privileged User Management Program Process to obtain a Role Based Access Control account, potentially requiring both a .14 token and a .1c token.
  • Ability to obtain or hold Public Trust clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Assist senior geospatial personnel in reviewing and validating vendor- and contractor-developed geospatial deliverables, including web maps, spatial analyses, and geoprocessing tools.
  • Support efforts to translate mission requirements into basic technical specifications for Geographic Information System solutions and applications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the program office, cybersecurity teams, and contractors in resolving routine issues related to geospatial software deployment.
  • Contribute to integrating geospatial applications and services into modern DevSecOps environments.
  • Help develop and maintain migration documentation, onboarding checklists, and procedures under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Work with platform engineering teams to support the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for deploying geospatial software.
  • Assist in maintaining metadata standards, schema baselines, and data quality guidelines for geospatial datasets.
  • Participate in assessing contractor-managed Geographic Information System environments for compliance with performance and security requirements.
  • Support routine monitoring, reporting, and documentation related to geospatial systems, data pipelines, and platform bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to reviews of proposed geospatial system architectures for alignment with established standards and requirements.
  • Assist in preparing documentation and standard operating procedures for handling Controlled Unclassified Information within geospatial data.
  • Help ensure integrations with enterprise systems follow established architectural guardrails and Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides.
Desired Qualifications
  • Exposure to Esri products such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ArcGIS Online.
  • Basic understanding of the ArcGIS REST API.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, or federal maritime data initiatives.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard Force Design 2028 goals, PEO C5I environments, or shared data governance systems.
  • Understanding of containerization concepts, including Docker and Kubernetes, and management of containerized workloads or analytical environments.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code or automation scripting, such as Bash or PowerShell, to manage data system infrastructure.
