Title: Reinsurance Analyst - Spinnaker

About You:
You will support our reinsurance operations across all existing and new programs. You will work closely with our underwriting team, brokers, and reinsurers to ensure that contracts are set-up appropriately (both manually and in systems) and all aspects of reinsurance accounting operations are being performed; this includes monthly settlements for pro-rata/quota share treaties, deposit premiums and recoveries for various XOL structures, other adjustments occurring throughout the year, and collateral maintenance. While performing the day-to-day function, you will be continuing to build out the department’s processes, procedures, and overall operating cadence.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze & process complex monthly/quarterly treaty reinsurance accounts:
- Reconcile broker invoices to supporting documentation
- Thoroughly review premium & loss bordereaux to ensure compliance with treaty terms & to identify catastrophe or large loss activity
- Prepare cash disbursements for assigned brokers. Document and resolve any account issues.
- Provide ongoing reporting on reinsurance recoverable and payables
- Confirm and process adjustable features on contingent and sliding scale commissions as well as retrospectively rated premium adjustments
- Analyze and process intercompany QS accounts
- Review new and existing contracts and ensure they are established and set-up appropriately in the Company’s systems and processes
- Prepare collateral calculation Quarterly for senior management
- Track and maintain collateral obligations across all reinsurance relationships
- Support implementation and maintenance of the new Ceded Re system when required
- Work closely with other Reinsurance Accounting team members, and members of Actuarial, Underwriting and Claims departments
- Work on Ad-Hoc project as assigned by top management
Must Haves:
- Minimum 1 - 3 years in related accounting or operational roles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw conclusions from research
- Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks to meet critical deadlines
- In-depth knowledge of treaty reinsurance accounting concepts plus
- Highly motivated, strong ability to take initiative, and strong sense of ownership
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with individuals at all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Microsoft Excel – proficient in pivot table & v-lookup functionality
