Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social services field is required.
  • At least one year of related experience and/or training, including experience working in crisis intervention, is required.
  • First aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency behavior intervention certifications are required.
  • Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Applicants must provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Applicants must pass pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • The ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics is required.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with staff members, service providers, and professionals is required.
  • The ability to provide crisis intervention according to training when needed to maintain a safe environment is required.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining emotional control and professional composure is required.
  • Computer literacy sufficient to meet the responsibilities of the position is required.
  • The ability to work effectively without intensive supervision, independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, is required.
  • Working knowledge of Compass Connections policies and procedures is required.
  • Employees must receive an annual influenza vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities
  • Meet all applicable federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Maintain a caseload in accordance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and contract standards.
  • Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs, and other activities that promote professional growth and development.
  • Maintain the required minimum number of weekly contacts with children and families.
  • Continually assess changes in behavior, circumstances, or conditions that may affect child safety.
  • Provide feedback and support to crisis line staff to ensure appropriate responses to crisis calls, support for families' needs, and necessary follow-up.
  • Engage children and their sponsors in the casework process.
  • Document children's and families' or sponsors' progress toward risk reduction, service goals, and positive case outcomes.
  • Compile, prepare, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics, and other required information.
  • Participate in weekly case staffing with case managers, case aides, and contracted staff in the assigned region.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by the supervisor.
  • Implement safety protocols, including evacuating with children and other staff during emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
  • Maintain professional and ethical standards of conduct, including respecting agency staff, the service population, and community members and complying with the required dress code.
  • Coordinate referrals, service planning, and service documentation for the assigned caseload.
  • Act as a liaison with stakeholders, including legal providers and immigration court.
  • Accept crisis calls and provide support to families in crisis.
  • Participate in weekly face-to-face or telephone supervision with the supervisor.
  • Travel frequently from one location to another within the office.
  • Meet deadlines required by the program supervisor and federal partners.
  • Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents in foster care programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • A graduate degree from an accredited program or university in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in child welfare, case management, and with immigrant populations is strongly encouraged.
