Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a retail setting is required.
  • The candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must be able to motivate and lead associates storewide in a fair and impartial manner.
  • The candidate must possess a high degree of analytical skill and the ability to delegate and work independently.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • The candidate must be technically skilled in basic retail computer systems and related software.
  • The candidate must be able to develop and maintain client relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • The candidate must dress according to company policy.
  • The candidate must possess a valid in-state driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the company’s insurance carrier standards.
  • The candidate must be able to stand for extended periods, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
  • The candidate must be able to move and handle merchandise and fixtures weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • The position is subject to pre-employment background and drug screening.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the complete day-to-day operation of the store, maximizing sales and profitability while minimizing expenses.
  • Ensure the store is optimally stocked and merchandised.
  • Delegate daily workloads among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards.
  • Hire, train, and develop retail staff, provide ongoing performance feedback, and recognize accomplishments.
  • Review store evaluations with the store management team and staff, identify opportunity areas, and correct issues promptly.
  • Coordinate overall staff supervision to ensure sales performance goals are met and company procedures are followed accurately.
  • Conduct associate evaluations according to company standards and provide feedback, recognition, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop and implement in-store marketing, promotions, events, and seasonal merchandising based on store needs.
  • Complete merchandising updates according to company standards.
  • Work with vendors to develop product merchandising strategies and assist with planogram development and updates.
  • Forecast scheduling needs, create work schedules, and meet customer demand.
  • Monitor payroll for compliance with established budgets and take corrective measures as necessary.
  • Review staffing strengths and opportunities with Human Resources and Operations Directors before additions or terminations.
  • Promote customer service as the top priority by observing, monitoring, and coaching associate performance and customer interactions.
  • Teach and promote the company’s customer-service standards while leading by example and coaching associates.
  • Use huddles, communication boards, and store meetings to communicate store performance and educate, engage, and motivate the team.
  • Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring customers are acknowledged, needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly.
  • Review customer-service measurement reports and work with the team to improve service levels.
  • Document at least one observation per associate monthly and provide coaching to ensure consistent customer service.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through on-hand integrity, daily receiving and transfers, store communication, product mix and flow, and adherence to company best practices, metrics, and deadlines.
  • Use inventory reports to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and maximize inventory accuracy.
  • Pursue professional development through leadership training, local business events, company learning, and industry events.
  • Identify appropriate training for store associates and oversee new-hire orientation, on-the-job training, vendor training, and other training requirements.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures and serve as a safety role model.
  • Enforce store-environment procedures to maintain the store’s appearance.
  • Conduct preventive safety and fire inspections and take appropriate corrective action.
