Senior Linux

*Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of Washington, DC, will be required to report onsite daily to a federal agency office in the DC area.  Candidates who reside outside the 50-mile radius will be considered full-time remote and will not be required to report onsite on a daily basis. *

We are seeking a highly skilled, customer-facing Systems Administrator to support Linux and Windows environments for a critical Treasury program. The ideal candidate possesses extensive Linux expertise, demonstrates initiative and openness in their approach, and excels at collaborating with stakeholders. This position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and support both Linux and Windows operating systems, ensuring optimal system performance and adherence to security compliance standards.

• Apply patches, monitor vulnerabilities, and coordinate with the Oracle cloud provider and the Treasury team to remediate findings.

• Participate in and respond to security data calls; document security controls and system changes as required.

• Engage in transparent and customer-centric collaboration with Treasury teams, ensuring proactive communication regarding progress updates and key technical decisions.

• Support DNS configurations and networking infrastructure.

• Leverage SIEM tools such as Splunk to monitor system logs and security events.

• Ensure all tasks are completed in alignment with FISMA, NIST, and other federal security frameworks.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of extensive hands-on experience and deep expertise with Linux internals, system architecture, performance tuning, and security. Requires demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and resolving performance issues using advanced commands, techniques, and scripting.

• 2+ years of experience with Windows Administration, including scripting.

• 1+ years of experience with DNS Administration

• 1+ years of experience in core networking technologies.

• 1+ years of experience performing or supporting Windows and Linux vulnerability scans and executing remediation activities.

• 1+ years of exposure or training of SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk).

• 1+ years of exposure or training in Computer Networking Technologies

• 1+ years of exposure or training in Cloud Technical Architecture and cloud system administration.

• 6 months of experience working transparently (on camera, if remote) and effectively with government stakeholders.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• US Citizenship is required (required by the federal government for this position).

• MUST RESIDE IN THE United States (U.S.) and the work MUST BE PERFORMED in the United States (U.S.), as this work is for a federal contract and laws do apply.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience administering the following security tools:

  • Nessus

  • Splunk

  • WebInspect

  • DBProtect

• Understanding of FISMA, FIPS, NIST, and FedRAMP security standards.

• Oracle Cloud administration experience.

• Active recognized security industry certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CEH).

Prefer candidates in the MD, DC, and VA area so they can go onsite for meetings if needed.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$98,124.00 - $166,810.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
