Requirements
  • Two years of experience in Athletics or professional sports external relations areas (e.g. social media, media relations, marketing).
  • Proficiency with multiple social media platforms, including but not limited to X, Facebook, Instagram
  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or a related field.
  • Working weekends and evenings as needed is required.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
Responsibilities
  • Manage digital and social media efforts for University of Wyoming Athletics, including but not limited to: Implementing and overseeing digital/social media strategy with the goals of increasing following and fan engagement, driving revenue generation and impacting student-athlete recruitment.
  • Working with media relations, marketing, broadcast and video production, ticketing and fundraising staffs to develop social media strategy and implement that strategy across all social media platforms.
  • Developing a weekly content calendar and coordinating weekly content meetings involving all UW Athletics external relation departments.
  • Communicating with coaching staffs and other departments to ideate social media content specific to their programs, while maintaining consistent brand messaging for all Wyoming Athletics’ platforms.
  • Serving as a liaison with Wyoming Sports Properties (Learfield) to deploy sponsored social media initiatives that fit within the overall brand messaging of UW Athletics.
  • Monitoring and developing analytics to measure the effectiveness of social media strategy.
  • Supervise the student internship program, including: Assigning students to specific sports and overseeing their social media strategy for those sports. Scheduling, delegating, mentoring and coordinating the intern’s involvement in day-to-day social media efforts and social media efforts at UW Athletics events.
  • Assist in managing the official UW Athletics website, GoWyo.com: Collaborate with media relations, marketing, broadcast and video production, ticketing, fundraising and Wyoming Sports Properties staff on website content. Assist in working with Wyoming’s third-party website provider Sidearm.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of and adhere to all applicable University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Assist with other duties/projects as assigned/directed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Collegiate Athletic experience managing social media content.
  • NCAA Division I experience.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Proficiency with Social Media analytics and platforms and ads on social media channels
  • Supervisory experience, including the ability to foster leadership and teamwork amongst others.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to set deadlines and meet those deadlines.
  • Experience working with multiple sports programs.
  • Experience working with video editing software.
