Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in the Sciences
  • 5+ years of regulatory experience in Cosmetic/Personal Care/Consumer Personal Goods industries with in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for various cosmetic and OTC products
  • Experience with researching legislation preferred
  • Experience in US required; additional experience with international products also preferred
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator, including with senior management, cross-functional business partners, and government officials
  • Excellent team player with a demonstrated ability to successfully participate in cross-functional teams, with the ability to summarize and communicate risk and technical details in a business-friendly way
  • Creative and strategic thinker able to critically assess regulatory and business risk and propose creative and workable solutions
  • Organized person with proven entrepreneurial ability to introduce and/or optimize regulatory review and approval processes and policies within an innovating organization
  • Ability to multi-task and pivot between multiple regulatory tasks
Responsibilities
  • Research, monitor, and strategize regarding current and emerging local and country-specific regulatory requirements, issues and changing regulatory landscapes, proactively educating and advising key stakeholders
  • Is the local regulatory expert for the Brand, including as it relates to product registrations, product safety, cosmetics, OTC, electrics, sustainability, ingredients, and packaging/labeling
  • Identify risks and provide regulatory support and solutions to the product development team, legal team, quality team, and creative teams for all DSC products (including ingredient reviews, claims review, testing and substantiation, current and prospective regulations, packaging and artwork reviews, corporate initiatives) to ensure local and country-specific compliance
  • Manage local consultants or subject matter regulatory consultants that help with specialized regulatory research
  • Provides early preliminary regulatory assessments for all formulas, ingredients, and innovations for all countries of interest before formula approval
  • Support and advise on testing strategies and procedures, including consumer perception, clinical, and safety testing
  • In coordination with cross functional teams, support recall process and procedures in compliance with government regulations, including coordination with Unilever, presenting and advising on risks to Executive team
  • Collaborate and optimize efficient processes for regulatory review and approval for new products, including labeling and claims
  • Oversees 3rd Parties designated to provide regulatory guidance for new products or countries
  • Creates, collates, and/or manages DSC product documentation, filings and reports to comply with local and country-specific specifications
  • Executes product registration in the EU system and International markets
  • Conducts and/or oversees US-based filings (SB 484, CFFIRKA, SB 54, etc.)
