The Psychiatry Training Specialist has two main activities: 1) Lead online coaching sessions in which health professionals and students improve their counseling skills through practice and video demonstration, and 2) Oversee the progress of up to 10 learners at a time, using proactive communication to help learners engage with training and complete training courses. Counselor Trainers will specialize in up to three Training Areas. Current Training Areas are: Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral Activation for Depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety, Solution-Focused Therapy, Crisis Response Planning (suicide risk assessment and safety planning), Crisis Counseling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, counseling for individuals with Long COVID.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree is required.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Active LPC or LCSW preferred.
- Hold several weekly online coaching sessions following a trainer’s manual.
- Participate with learners in recorded roleplays of counseling interactions.
- Complete standard Feedback Form assessments of learners’ roleplays.
- Provide learners with objective feedback and practice suggestions.
- Monitor learners’ progress and communicate with learners as needed to help them complete training courses in a timely manner.
- Record training sessions and view other coaches’ training sessions for fidelity assessment.
- Participate in team meetings and adapt procedures to the evolving RT training model.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
