Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in an applicable field.
  • Current enrollment at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine graduate semester credit hours during the work term.
  • For summer-term eligibility, enrollment in at least six graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term, or preregistration for at least six undergraduate or nine graduate semester credit hours for the upcoming fall term.
  • Good academic standing as demonstrated through the student's college.
  • Admission and enrollment in a graduate degree program at Prairie View A&M University.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in research and scholarship.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design and implementation of research studies.
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews.
  • Assist with Institutional Review Board submissions and protocol management.
  • Recruit research participants and coordinate study activities.
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Clean, organize, and manage research datasets.
  • Conduct statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, or similar platforms.
  • Assist with qualitative data coding using NVivo or comparable software.
  • Support the preparation of grant proposals and supporting documents.
  • Conduct background research for grant applications.
  • Assist with proposal editing, formatting, and submission.
  • Maintain grant development timelines and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare conference abstracts and presentations.
  • Assist with scientific posters and oral presentations.
  • Support dissemination of research findings through reports, newsletters, and publications.
  • Assist in planning and implementing community-based research activities.
  • Coordinate meetings with community partners.
  • Support community outreach events and health education initiatives.
  • Assist with implementation of community-engaged research projects.
  • Help maintain collaborative partnerships with healthcare organizations, schools, nonprofit organizations, and governmental agencies.
  • Assist with undergraduate research initiatives.
  • Support student training workshops.
  • Coordinate student research seminars and professional development activities.
  • Mentor undergraduate student research assistants when appropriate.
  • Maintain research databases and project documentation.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Coordinate project timelines and deliverables.
  • Assist with annual reports and research metrics.
  • Support Center events, workshops, symposiums, and conferences.
  • Conduct independent research.
  • Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Communicate scientific information effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work collaboratively within interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct in research.
  • Build positive relationships with faculty, students, and community partners.
  • Meet deadlines in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Travel occasionally to community partner sites and conferences.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds for research materials and event setup.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate study in Public Health, Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Sports Management, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Data Science, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Previous research experience.
  • Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, or similar.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and proposal development.
  • Experience working with multifaceted and underserved communities.
  • Experience with community-based participatory research.
  • Scientific writing experience.
