As a Federal Reserve System National Business Line, it is standard practice to post FRFS positions in all twelve Districts to provide transparency and equitable opportunities for all FRS employees to apply. We are seeking a strong writer and content creator who will develop compelling content – ranging from blog posts and ad copy to video scripts and white papers – that supports strategic initiatives for Federal Reserve Financial Services. Emphasis will be on developing thought leadership and long-form content to advance the Federal Reserve’s payments improvement initiatives, as well as creating content to promote and support the new FedNow instant payment service.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing skills and have experience developing marketing content for financial services or related industries. The Senior Writer and Content Creator will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on content ideation and development, propose strategies for distribution across digital and print channels, manage projects from inception to completion, and meet fast-paced deadlines.
Responsibilities will include creating and managing content production timelines and editorial calendars, shepherding content through a robust review and publication process, working with the analytics team on content performance results and reporting, coordinating with graphic design and digital content vendors, and working cross-functionally to support consistent brand experience.
This position reports directly to a Marketing Communications Team and Content Lead. The level of work required is considered advanced, and the staff member must be able to think critically and work under minimal supervision. This position does not have direct reports; however, the successful candidate will coordinate closely with a dynamic team of marketing and communications professionals, and other Bank stakeholders.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a strategic team member on a range of marketing and communications projects to inform and educate external audiences about the FedNow Service and other Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) strategic initiatives.
Translate complex payments service information, research and customer insights into clear and engaging digital and print content that educates and persuades.
Contribute to the development of a comprehensive editorial content calendar to support and promote external awareness and understanding of FRFS products and initiatives.
Build robust communication project plans, coordinate content reviews and approvals, and proactively manage the process to meet deadlines.
Lead and engage in brainstorming discussions that lead to engaging messages and content that reflect the voices of internal stakeholders across multiple teams.
Present plans and provide updates on projects to a variety of stakeholders including senior leadership.
Think critically about customer experience and work closely with internal web team on web updates and additions.
Perform other related duties as assigned by Marketing and Communications Manager, including supporting content development for other FRFS business lines.
Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders across FRFS as well as external stakeholders.
Positively contribute to overall team culture through collaboration and engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, related field or equivalent experience.
Expert writing skills required. Demonstrated ability to write about financial services, including payments industry topics, is strongly desired.
Proven project management capabilities and ability to manage content creation projects through from beginning to end.
Agency and/or journalism experiences is highly preferred.
A minimum of 5-8 years of relevant writing and editing experience.
Strong preference for someone based out of Chicago area
Knowledge & Skills:
Advanced writing and editing skills with an ability to synthesize complex topics and information.
Excellent oral communication and executive presence skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, incorporate stakeholder feedback and pivots in direction, and meet deadlines in a highly complex, fast-paced agile environment within a geographically diverse, and matrixed organization.
Experience and ability to quickly understand and consistently follow brand and writing style guides.
Familiarity with digital content strategy, corporate communications, B2B marketing principles and practices.
Demonstrated aptitude to leverage relevant technology and software applications.
Independent thinking, objective analysis, decision-making capabilities and ability to manage projects through ambiguity.
Advanced level of attention to detail resulting in high-quality deliverables.
Ability to negotiate and influence without direct authority and strong relationship management skills.
