Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in food science, plus two years of quality assurance or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment, or five years of assurance or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of the degree.
  • SQF Practitioner and PCQI certifications are preferred.
  • Experience presenting concepts and ideas to employees at all organizational levels and to external customers in business and technical fields.
  • Experience writing and interpreting complex documents clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency with computer and analytical software, including the ability to develop, interpret, and apply specification parameters.
  • Understanding of food plant sanitation programs, including cleaning and sanitizing procedures, hygienic practices, environmental monitoring, and compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of statistics and statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of USDA grades and standards for the almond industry.
  • A strong technical background and the ability to analyze laboratory reports and technical data.
  • Ability to keep quality assurance documents and specifications current.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, hazardous materials, heavy machinery, and varying work and weather conditions, including occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Quality Manager to establish and execute metrics and processes that reduce complaints and held product.
  • Use established routines and problem-solving methods to monitor food safety and quality processes on the shop floor and identify root causes of deviations and process interruptions.
  • Drive continuous improvement processes and tools across the Quality and Operations teams to reduce consumer and customer complaints and achieve first-time quality targets.
  • Coach the Quality and Operations teams to deliver quality objectives and apply motivational and correctional techniques, including employee counseling, disciplinary actions, and recognition.
  • Monitor employee contributions and potential growth to identify opportunities for greater contributions.
  • Ensure proper scheduling to staff the operation effectively and manage department time and attendance.
  • Contribute to effective employee training programs, conduct training, and promote continuous staff learning.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and report writing.
  • Work with the Department Manager to plan and manage department activities in accordance with the budget.
Desired Qualifications
