Requirements
  • Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, network, electrical, and mechanical issues in data center environments.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and complete complex or ambiguous tasks in accordance with project requirements.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues, collect and review data, and serve as an escalation point.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Operation Protocols, data center change control, site security, safety, and compliance procedures.
  • Ability to work on-site at customer locations and offices while following personal protective equipment, site access, and data center compliance requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams, project teams, colocation partners, contractors, vendors, and global operations teams.
Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to replace or upgrade servers, server components, and other hardware throughout the equipment lifecycle.
  • Guide and coach less experienced technicians on power distribution units, replacement hardware, hardware removal, troubleshooting, and best practices without disturbing critical infrastructure.
  • Guide technicians in implementing designed network communications and solutions and sign off on client configurations.
  • Validate cabling, network environment builds, connectivity, and device connections, ensuring devices are error-free.
  • Monitor and assign work in a ticketing environment, implement technical solutions, troubleshoot systems within Service Level Agreements, escalate trends, and document resolutions.
  • Oversee adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, Maintenance Operation Protocols, site rules, colocation vendor rules, and data center or customer site requirements.
  • Uphold security procedures, conduct functional testing of security, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines during on-site work.
  • Train technicians on advanced fix and repair techniques and operational data center change control processes.
  • Identify and analyze recurring problems or trends, escalate issues to senior peers, external experts, and operations teams, and engage global teams on local issues.
  • Lead collaboration with project teams and colocation partners to test and validate electrical and mechanical systems and coordinate site utility requirements.
  • Act as a technical liaison and subject matter expert to identify and resolve resiliency, reliability, and availability risks.
  • Ensure contractors and vendors deliver quality services and meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Contribute to quality assurance by creating processes and training less experienced peers.
  • Provide guidance to team members on shifting priorities and resources according to team needs.
  • Collaborate across teams to lead delivery of critical objectives and build stakeholder and customer partnerships.
  • Develop and share procedures for troubleshooting complex errors and resolving routine and non-routine issues.
  • Recommend, implement, and share improvements to complex processes, protocols, and workflows.
