What believers are saying

  • USA Today reported CEC plans eight to ten 2026 openings, including Adventure World.
  • Plano's 18,000-square-foot Adventure World targets December 2026 completion after Arlington's 2025 launch.
  • June 2026 Toy Foundation promotions and AI loss-prevention tools lift traffic and margins.

What critics are saying

  • CEC closed Salisbury in April 2026 and Nebraska's last location by July 2026.
  • Routine lease expirations show the chain still shrinks when landlords and traffic weaken.
  • If Adventure World underperforms, expansion stalls and debt reduction absorbs cash through 2027.

What makes Chuck E. Cheese unique

  • Adventure World centers on active play for ages 3-8, not just arcade redemption.
  • CEC uses memberships and Fun Passes across 600-plus venues to drive repeat traffic.
  • Chris Monroe joined May 2026 to pair finance discipline with real estate expansion.

Dave & Busters to purchase Main Event for $835 million.

Dave & Busters to purchase Main Event for $835 million. July 25, 2026 Dave & Busters is set to expand its family entertainment footprint by acquiring Main Event, strengthening its position in the competitive US arcade and entertainment-centre market. A major family entertainment acquisition. The announced purchase is valued at $835 million, with the transaction scheduled for completion by the end of the year. Main Event CEO Chris Morris is expected to lead the combined company after the deal closes. Dave & Busters says the acquisition should contribute to earnings and future growth, while generating $20 million in cost synergies during the first two years. The deal is expected to support both earnings and growth, with $20 million in cost synergies targeted within the first two years. Two brands with different audiences. At the time of the announcement, Dave & Busters listed 146 venues, while Main Event listed 49 locations. Those figures were counted from each company's location pages and may have differed slightly as listings changed. Both businesses have a substantial presence in Texas, where each company began. Their customer groups also differ: Main Event has traditionally focused on families with younger children, while Dave & Busters has generally aimed its offer at young adults. The arrangement follows Chuck E. Cheese's earlier acquisition of Peter Piper Pizza, a move that further consolidated the large US family entertainment centre sector before the pandemic. What could change for arcade games? The companies indicated that the two brands would retain their existing names and distinct areas of focus. That leaves open questions about how the acquisition may influence arcade-game purchasing and location strategies. Dave & Busters had paused some game-development activity during the pandemic. As those efforts resume, future Dave & Busters-exclusive games - whether released temporarily or permanently - could potentially reach Main Event venues as well, although no such rollout was confirmed. Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World is coming to Plano.

Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World is coming to Plano. State filings show the entertainment brand is planning an 18,000-square-foot indoor playground Matilda Preisendorf Jul 20, 2026 7:30 AM Families in Plano may soon have a new place to climb, slide and play. According to a filing submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), Chuck E. Cheese is planning to open an Adventure World location at 801 W. 15th St. The project calls for converting an existing retail space into an 18,000-square-foot indoor playground. Construction is estimated to cost $850,000, with work expected to begin Sept. 7 and wrap up by Dec. 7, 2026. A different kind of Chuck E. Cheese. Adventure World represents a new direction for the longtime family entertainment brand. Instead of focusing on arcade games and prize counters, the concept centers on active play designed for children ages 3 to 8. Inside, families can expect multilevel climbing structures, slides, tunnels, a mini soccer court and an interactive dance floor that lights up beneath every step. Unlike many indoor playgrounds, parents are encouraged to join the fun, with no height restrictions preventing them from climbing alongside their kids. North Texas families may already be familiar with the concept. The first Chuck E. Cheese Adventure World opened in Arlington in November 2025, introducing the company's expanded vision for indoor family entertainment. Building on A growing concept. Adventure World follows the rollout of Chuck E. Cheese's Adventure Zones, which debuted in 2024 with trampolines, obstacle courses and other active attractions. After strong response from families, the company has continued investing in play-focused experiences, with additional Adventure World locations planned across the country throughout 2026. If the Plano project moves forward as scheduled, it will bring the brand's second Adventure World to North Texas and offer another option for families looking to keep young children active no matter the weather.
