Are you passionate about power?  Are you looking for meaningful work in power electronics?  If so, we’re looking for someone like you to join our team. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Power Electronics Engineers to join our growing design team located in Sykesville, MD. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Power Electronics design group, working with other engineers to develop state of the art power supplies and power products for military applications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform power supply design, including simulation and analysis, schematic creation, component selection, and printed wiring board layout.
• Perform technical studies.
• Perform worst case analysis and component stress analysis.
• Provide manufacturing support for hardware builds.
• Develop Acceptance Test Procedures and support first piece hardware checkout/testing.
• Work in a lab environment and support hardware production

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years of hands-on power supply or power systems design and development experience, 6 years with a Master’s Degree or 4 years with PhD.
• Familiar with basic isolated and non-isolated circuit topologies & control techniques.
• Familiar with simulation tools (e.g. SPICE, LTSpice, SABER), MATLAB.
• Familiar with PCB design software tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition.
• US Citizen with ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current Secret clearance (or higher).
• Familiarity with power supply EMI/EMC filtering and design.
• Digital control experience, Firmware programming experience.
• Active power factor correction design expertise.
• Magnetic component design experience.
• High voltage design expertise.
• Working knowledge of power related Mil-Stds for power quality and electromagnetic interference.
• Hardware development team leadership experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
