Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in health education, health promotion or a closely related field such as psychology, biology, sociology, education, or physical education and health education experience.
  • Certification as a Health Education Specialists or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in health education, wellness program management, or related roles, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Experience in wellbeing and resilience-based strategies approaches helpful.
  • Previous or current experience in employee engagement, or employee relations desirable.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and theories of public health education and promotion.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of stress injury, resiliency support, trauma informed care, recovery and healing processes for healthcare professionals.
  • Experience facilitating groups, particularly leading groups following stress injury, traumatic events and knowledge of group therapeutic factors.
  • Knowledge of techniques involved in the preparation and presentation of educational visual aids, displays, and exhibits.
  • Demonstrate ability to self-reflect and engage in appropriate communication, self-care, coping and healthy boundaries to manage risks of secondary traumatization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain confidential information and materials.
  • Ability to organize and maintain different projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to use tact, judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability to display professional standards of behaviors.
  • Knowledge of all MUSC administrative policies, procedures and operations.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools for health education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be flexible with time and space.
Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, support and deliver workplace well-being education programs tailored to the unique needs of university and health system employees, addressing prevention, recovery and restoration aligned with organization’s well-being strategic plans and goals.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials, workshops and webinars.
  • Teach approved curricula, including Stress First Aid training.
  • Organize, coordinate and participate in well-being events, health fairs and campaigns aligned with organizational strategic plan and goals.
  • Support the activation of individual and team strengths to facilitate positive impact on engagement, relationships, culture, and well-being.
  • Conduct well-being and needs assessments through surveys, focus sessions and focus groups, rounding and data analysis to identify well-being needs and priorities for individuals, teams, units and departments, as requested by Director.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align well-being initiatives with organizational well-being strategies.
  • Advocate for policies, resources and workplace practices that support employee well-being.
  • Provide one-on-one consultations for leaders and staff on workplace well-being related topics to support workplace well-being model.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted point of contact for employees seeking guidance on personal and professional well-being and provide direct consultation, education and support as needed. Provide individualized warm handoffs to EAP, other mental health resources, coaching, or other support resources as appropriate.
  • Maintain communication with employees about well-being programs to ensure ongoing engagement and accessibility to resources.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, best practices, and research in health education, resiliency and workplace well-being.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines related to workplace health and safety.
Desired Qualifications
