Requirements
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in aerospace systems engineering; helicopter experience is strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another relevant engineering field.

Near Earth's autonomy products are designed to integrate natively with Valo's Honeywell Aerospace Anthem avionics, according to today's press release from Vertical Aerospace. Per Vertical, Near Earth, which was founded in 2012, brings more than a decade of experience developing autonomous flight systems for programmes with the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army and Honeywell Aerospace, such as optionally piloted Black Hawk helicopters and autonomous flight demonstrations on the Leonardo AW139. Vertical Aerospace has partnered with Near Earth Autonomy to add autonomous flight capability to its Valo aircraft, expanding into uncrewed defence and commercial operations. Near Earth's technology will integrate with Honeywell Aerospace's Anthem avionics system already planned for the aircraft. Vertical is developing the Valo in both all-electric tiltrotor and hybrid-electric variants. Near Earth, founded in 2012, has created autonomous flight systems for programmes involving the US Marine Corps, US Army and Honeywell.
