Purpose of Job:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Developer Intern to join our Robotic Motion Planning team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced automation and software engineers to develop and implement innovative algorithms for motion planning in robotic systems. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of software solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reliability of robotic motion planning algorithms. This involves symbolic planning, robot kinematics, collision detection, and optimization methods.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
Responsibilities
•Develop and maintain software development best practices to ensure high-quality code, efficient testing, and timely releases.
•Collaborate with other teams to ensure that our software integrates seamlessly with other software products.
•Collaborate with senior engineers to understand project requirements and contribute to the development of software solutions for robotic motion planning.
•Design, implement, and optimize algorithms within our motion planning framework, leveraging your programming skills and understanding of robotics principles.
•Assist in the integration and testing of software components to ensure robustness and performance in real-world scenarios.
•Document your work, including code, algorithms, user manuals, and procedures, to support knowledge sharing and future development efforts.
•Stay updated on advancements in robotic motion planning algorithms and technologies, and contribute fresh ideas and insights to the team.
Requirements:
Education:
Ongoing B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, ML / AI, or similar fields
Experience:
Skills:
Minimum:
•Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
•Familiarity with data-structures and algorithms.
•Fundamental understanding of industrial robotics.
•Familiarity with search algorithms, optimization methods, and AI planning (linear programming, satisfiability, constraint satisfaction)
•Experience with open source or commercial robotic planning and manipulation software packages such as MoveIt and ROS.
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
•Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers & owners, engineers, and internal customers.
Preferred:
•Proficient in programming languages and frameworks such as C#, Typescript, and Angular
•Hands-on experience with Classical AI planning technologies such as Z3, Google OR-Tools, Coin-OR, CPLEX.
•Projects or publications in the area of task or motion planning
•Experience in QA testing is a plus
