Requirements
  • Hold an MD degree, and must hold or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec
  • Have completed sub-specialty training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology
  • Possess additional training post-residency or commensurate experience in an academic environment
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent)
  • Hold, or be eligible for, certification by the College des Médecins du Québec
  • Demonstrate relevant expertise in translational research and clinical trials
  • Have the ability to bridge laboratory and clinical practice in research areas
  • Have experience in multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, and academic involvement
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec
Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will have clinical responsibilities that include outpatient clinical practice within a hospital-based clinic, as well as inpatient and outpatient consultation in medical oncology.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to supervise oncology care on inpatient units, with activities potentially spanning across either of the main hospital sites.
  • This role requires a strong foundation in both direct patient care and oversight in a hospital setting.
  • Research and scholarly activities will be an essential part of the position. The incumbent will be expected to provide documentation of expertise in clinical trials and translational research.
  • They are expected to demonstrate a solid record of achievement in translational research, particularly in bridging the laboratory-clinical interface.
  • The successful candidate will also develop expertise in translational research focused on areas such as assessing response to therapy, tumor biology, and the development of new drugs.
  • In addition to clinical and research responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to enhancing the academic environment of the division.
  • This will involve encouraging scholarly activity and fostering a collaborative atmosphere between clinical and research teams.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to bridge various areas of clinical practice and research, ensuring integration of the two disciplines in a way that advances both clinical care and scientific discovery.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to be actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees).
  • McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.
