Requirements
  • Proven experience commissioning critical mechanical systems in data centers or other mission-critical facilities, including chilled water plants, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, PAHUs, FWUs, air distribution systems, hydronic distribution systems, fuel oil and lube oil systems, and make-up water, treatment, and reuse systems.
  • Strong understanding of data center cooling architectures, including air-cooled and water-cooled systems, N, N+1, and 2N redundancy, and hot-aisle/cold-aisle containment strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience validating mechanical system performance under normal, abnormal, and failure scenarios, including loss-of-power and failover events.
  • Solid knowledge of controls and automation systems, including BMS, plant controls and sequencing, and integration with EPMS and IT load signals.
  • Proven experience developing Functional Performance Test and Integrated Systems Test scripts and leading on-site teams executing tests in live data center environments.
  • Working knowledge of life-safety and critical interfaces, including HVAC/fire-alarm interfaces, smoke control and purge systems, emergency shutdowns, and equipment interlocks.
  • Demonstrated ability to review mechanical designs, calculations, and specifications for commissionability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and mechanical/building-services design tools.
  • Familiarity with BIM platforms including Revit and Navisworks for coordination, clash detection, and commissioning readiness.
  • Experience using project-management tools such as Microsoft Project or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning and construction-management platforms such as CxAlloy, Procore, or Compass, or similar systems.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics, trend logs, and performance data for system validation and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing mechanical commissioning activities across schedule and resource constraints.
  • Proven capability to conduct technical audits and operational-readiness assessments of existing facilities, including installed-equipment verification, system-performance evaluation, and compliance with design intent and operational standards.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, communication, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities for guiding multidisciplinary teams and resolving complex mechanical and controls issues.
  • A B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, B.E., or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience testing and commissioning mechanical systems in mission-critical or large-scale commercial facilities.
  • At least 5 years of commissioning experience in the data center industry, including demonstrable leadership of Integrated Systems Testing.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASHRAE, including TC 9.9, CIBSE, SMACNA, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, and TIA-942.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end commissioning process for mechanical systems from pre-functional testing through Integrated Systems Testing and final handover.
  • Execute commissioning activities according to approved commissioning plans, project schedules, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate phased and systems-based commissioning strategies for hyperscale delivery.
  • Commission and validate chilled-water, airside, liquid-cooling or hybrid-cooling, HVAC-distribution, fuel-oil and lube-oil, make-up-water, water-treatment, and blowdown systems.
  • Verify system performance under normal, abnormal, and failure conditions, and validate thermal performance, capacity, control response, and efficiency against design intent and client requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead mechanical commissioning activities with design engineers, construction teams, vendors, controls specialists, and operations stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for mechanical commissioning issues on site.
  • Support construction readiness, system turnover, and commissioning sequencing in fast-track hyperscale environments.
  • Integrate mechanical systems with electrical power systems, controls, BMS, EPMS, fire/life-safety systems, IT load, and white-space requirements.
  • Validate N, N+1, and 2N redundancy, fault tolerance, and maintainability, including mechanical failure scenarios during functional performance and integrated systems testing.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, mechanical test procedures, functional-performance scripts, method statements, risk assessments, final commissioning reports, as-built records, and handover documentation.
  • Provide progress, risk, and readiness reports to project and client stakeholders.
  • Ensure mechanical systems and commissioning activities comply with applicable codes, standards, best practices, client requirements, and local-authority requirements.
  • Support third-party audits, peer reviews, and certifications.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing for mechanical equipment and packaged systems.
  • Review vendor submittals, test data, and corrective actions, and witness performance testing of major plant.
  • Identify technical, schedule, operational, and safety risks; implement mitigation strategies; and lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Support rapid issue resolution in live or partially energized data-hall environments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, confined-space requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Lead and support contractors and subcontractors, provide technical guidance and training, and oversee commissioning quality and hyperscale delivery standards.
  • Interface with client operations teams to support transition to steady-state operations.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality-management systems; capture lessons learned and promote continuous improvement in commissioning methods, energy performance, and reliability outcomes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with direct-to-chip, liquid-cooling, or hybrid-cooling systems.
  • AutoCAD MEP coordination experience.
  • Exposure to cloud-based client platforms such as Google, Microsoft, or Amazon.
  • Experience delivering projects across the full data-center lifecycle from design review and construction support through commissioning, integrated testing, and operational handover.
  • Familiarity with hyperscale delivery models and phased handover strategies.
