Requirements
  • An Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent years of experience and education is required.
  • One year of experience is required.
  • A Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • A Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care is required.
  • A state respiratory care practitioner license or permitted equivalent is required for the applicable work location.
  • The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing 0–25 pounds, and occasional lifting or carrying objects weighing 25–50 pounds.
  • The role requires occasional lifting or moving of patients and occasional driving.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Provide respiratory care services in accordance with physician orders, department policies and procedures, and applicable guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans and equipment, record and communicate patient conditions, and perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practices, medication administration, and treatments based on patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and provide information about community support groups and available programs.
  • Assist with the care, calibration, and maintenance of respiratory care equipment.
  • Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
  • Process equipment according to established cleaning and sterilization procedures.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
