  • 3+ years industry experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Optical Microscopy and SEM/EDX
  • Experience with various Thermal Analysis test methods (Thermogravimetric analysis TGA, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis DMA, Differential scanning calorimetry DSC, Thermomechanical Analysis TMA)
  • Experience with Wet Chemistry and proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Basic knowledge of metal alloys and composite materials, analyzing characteristics such as microstructure, flaws, cracks and inclusions.
  • Basic knowledge of different failure modes and fracture mechanisms.
  • Ability to perform fractography and material characterization
  • Familiarity with basic metallurgy testing and principles.
  • Background in Material/Metals Failure Analysis
  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SPA).
Responsibilities
  • Perform root cause analysis of material failures from various aircrafts.
  • Perform various tests for large material qualification campaigns.
  • Quality control testing of various materials.
  • Responsible for priorities, bids, budget and customer schedule for this section of the lab.
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with team members, customers and applicable stakeholders to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Regularly interacting and communicating with Program and Functional management for status & visibility
  • Some regional travel may be required while supporting a variety of NGAS programs.
