Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Central Service areas is preferred.
  • CRCST certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical supplies is required.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, are required.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and procurement is required.
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The employee must maintain consistent attendance, demonstrate schedule flexibility, follow the hospital and department dress code, and adhere to infection-control, standard-precaution, patient-rights, abuse-prevention, and confidentiality policies.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain adequate sterile and unsterile supply levels and appropriate par levels in Central Sterile and Endoscopy.
  • Check supply inventory daily and place and receive orders as necessary.
  • Match storeroom documentation with department requisitions for accuracy and completeness when receiving supplies.
  • Resolve or escalate delivery discrepancies and damaged products upon arrival.
  • Notify the appropriate care center when special orders are received.
  • Check supplies for expiration dates and reprocess or discard them as indicated.
  • Keep supply storage areas clean, organized, and easy to navigate.
  • Secure needed supplies, including borrowing from another entity or personally retrieving items when necessary.
  • Review operating-room IUSS records daily and log the information on a spreadsheet.
  • Compile monthly Central Sterile Performance Improvement data and record it on the appropriate documents.
  • Review returned tray lists daily for quality concerns or missing instrumentation.
  • Receive and record operating-room expired items when appropriate.
  • Facilitate instrument repairs by obtaining purchase orders, contacting repair companies for return authorizations, preparing items for shipment, and delivering packages to the shipping department.
  • Inspect received repairs, log them, and provide them to staff for return to service.
  • Assist the Logistics Manager with assigned tasks, including decontaminating instruments, preparing and packing instruments, sterilizing instruments, and distributing instruments.
  • Perform related duties as required and unrelated duties as requested during emergencies.
  • Maintain courteous, respectful, customer-focused interactions with patients, families, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Central Service areas.
  • CRCST certification.
