Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge of University and federal agency requirements, including National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Department of Energy, Uniform Guidance, Export Control Regulations, and Federal Acquisition Regulations, is required.
  • The ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment is required.
  • Professional experience and judgment to effectively serve faculty and sponsors while protecting, representing, and advancing the University's best interests are required.
  • The ability to work well under deadlines without sacrificing accuracy, customer service, collegiality, or ethics is required.
  • Strong analytical contract and negotiation skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Independently review, analyze, and negotiate the terms and conditions of grants and contracts from various sponsors and counterparties on behalf of the University, ensuring that terms and conditions are consistent with University guidelines.
  • Provide guidance, support, and advice to faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues, interpreting a broad range of internal and external policies, government regulations, and terms and conditions.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Contracts and Grants Officers and academic departmental staff.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidance documentation relevant to the Contracts unit.
  • Collaborate with University groups such as the Institutional Review Board, Human Subject Research Office, Risk Management, Technology Transfer, Export Control, General Counsel, and other relevant offices to ensure that sponsored research projects are managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Remain abreast of regulatory changes relevant to the contracts portfolio.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • Sponsored research, unfunded research, including confidential disclosure agreements, material transfer agreements, data transfer and use agreements, unfunded collaborations, and outbound subaward agreement experience is preferred.
  • A Certified Research Administrator credential is preferred but not required.
