Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in patient experience, service excellence, or healthcare operations is required.
  • Demonstrated success leading system-level experience transformation initiatives is required.
  • Experience working with patient feedback systems such as HCAHPS, Press Ganey, and real-time feedback tools is required.
  • Deep expertise in patient safety science, human factors, and high reliability principles is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, execute, and continuously advance a system-wide patient experience and advocacy strategy across the continuum of care.
  • Lead development and execution of the system-wide patient experience strategy.
  • Establish a standardized experience model across all care settings and define patient-centered care standards at every touchpoint.
  • Design and operationalize a whole-person experience model addressing physical comfort, emotional support, patient and family education, shared decision-making, spiritual needs, and cultural needs.
  • Establish observable service behaviors and interaction standards and embed experience expectations into bedside care, rounding structures, tiered huddles, and leader standard work.
  • Drive consistency and accountability across all sites.
  • Oversee the system-wide patient feedback strategy, including HCAHPS and CG-CAHPS performance, real-time feedback and escalation, and patient complaints, grievances, and compliments.
  • Develop closed-loop feedback processes to ensure patients are heard and issues are resolved.
  • Lead targeted initiatives to improve experience metrics and key drivers.
  • Translate feedback into actionable improvement plans.
  • Standardize dashboards for facility, system, and board-level reporting.
  • Oversee patient advocacy programs and ensure timely and effective responses to concerns.
  • Design a system approach to service recovery and trust rebuilding.
  • Partner with Risk Management on patient communication and transparency.
  • Drive a culture of compassion, accountability, and ownership of experience.
  • Partner with Human Resources and leadership to integrate experience into performance evaluations, leadership expectations, and recognition programs.
  • Promote psychological safety and respectful care environments.
  • Serve as a key leader within the system clinical governance structure.
  • Align patient experience with quality, safety, and access priorities.
  • Partner with physician leaders to embed experience into clinical workflows.
  • Develop system-wide training for experience excellence.
  • Ensure onboarding and continuous education include communication skills, empathy and compassion training, and service recovery techniques.
  • Support leadership development in experience improvement.
  • Identify and address disparities in patient experience outcomes.
  • Ensure culturally competent, inclusive care across all populations.
  • Partner with equity leaders to improve experience for underserved groups.
  • Bring best practices from leading systems and industries.
  • Establish partnerships and benchmarking opportunities.
  • Introduce innovative approaches to enhance patient experience.
  • Directly manage the system-level patient experience and advocacy team.
  • Provide matrix leadership to facility-based experience leaders.
  • Oversee coordination across clinical, operational, and support departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in Public Health is preferred.
  • A clinical degree such as RN, MD, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in high reliability organizations and culture transformation is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.

Former Memphis broadcaster Richard Ransom leaves Methodist Le Bonheur communications post. Memphis Commercial Appeal Former Memphis broadcaster Richard Ransom has left his role as the director of strategic communication at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Ransom confirmed Nov. 19. "After 30 years in television news, I believed that Methodist offered me an interesting opportunity to use my skills as a journalist to provide Methodist with proactive and principled media relations," Ransom said in a statement. "It didn't take long to realize that this is not what the hospital system's management had in mind. We agreed to part ways. While I've made no decisions about my next chapter, I am committed to being more thoughtful about where I land." Ransom joined Methodist from ABC24 in March 2025, where he spent almost a decade as a television broadcaster. Ransom had been a part of the Memphis media world for 20 years.
