Requirements
  • Twelve years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four years of cloud software engineering experience on comparable Big-Data systems as a substitution.
  • Four years of experience in programs utilizing Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one year of cloud experience.
  • Two years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval experience.
  • One year of experience implementing code that interacts with Cloud BigTable.
  • One year of experience implementing code that interacts with a Cloud Distributed File System.
  • One year of experience implementing complex MapReduce analytics.

  • Experience with Cloud and Distributed Computing Information Retrieval technologies including HDFS, HBase, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, or MongoDB.
  • Experience ingesting, parsing, and analyzing disparate data sources and formats including XML, JSON, CSV, binary formats, sequence or map files, and Avro.
  • Experience with Aspect-Oriented Design and Development.
  • Experience debugging and profiling Cloud and Distributed installations, including Java Virtual Machine memory management and profiling Java applications.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux and CentOS.
  • Experience in SIGINT collection disciplines such as FORNSAT, CABLE, terrestrial/microwave, overhead, or ELINT; geolocation, emitter identification, signal applications, joint program collection platforms, dataflow architectures, and signals characterization analysis.
  • Experience with CentOS, Linux/Red Hat, and configuration management tools such as Subversion, ClearQuest, or Razor.
  • Active TS/SCI Full Scope Poly clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.
  • Contribute directly to all stages of back-end processing, analysis, and indexing.
  • Provide expertise in Cloud Computing, the Hadoop ecosystem, Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval, and Object-Oriented Design.
  • Work individually or as part of a team.
  • Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
  • Resolve software problem reports.
  • Use software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provide input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf and Government Off-the-Shelf products, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
  • Develop front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and React/JSX.
  • Develop back-end applications using Node.js/JavaScript, Rust, Python, and shell scripts.
  • Design and implement microservices architectures using Kubernetes, Helm charts, service-mesh patterns, multi-site applications, load-balancing topologies, and cloud migration practices.
  • Use and maintain the specified cloud technology stack, testing frameworks, monitoring tools, databases, messaging systems, configuration-management tools, infrastructure-as-code tools, WebSockets, and agency security-label technologies.

  • Debugging problems with Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks.
  • Managing multi-node Cloud-based installations.
  • Delegating programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitoring their performance.
  • Selecting the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering.
  • Recommending new technologies and processes for complex cloud software projects.
  • Ensuring quality control of developed and modified software.
  • Architecting solutions to complex Cloud Software Engineering problems, including efficiently processing and retrieving large amounts of data.
