Requirements
  • A current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of the hire date.
  • One year of nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills at the advanced beginner level necessary to provide age-specific patient care.
  • Ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific patient requirements.
  • Ability to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict effectively.
  • Competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to efficiently deliver patient care while maximizing resource use.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work volume, staffing, schedules, workloads, and assignments.
  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
  • Ability to lift, move, stoop, reach, stand, walk, and carry materials and equipment weighing 40 or more pounds.
  • Visual acuity within the normal range.
  • Hearing within the normal range to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, and monitors.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, around biohazards and infectious diseases, near deceased persons, with hands in water, and near electrical hazards associated with patient-care equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Modify each patient's plan of care based on collected data and individual needs.
  • Use Evidence-Based Practice to provide patient care.
  • Delegate care according to scope of practice.
  • Verify plans of care with interprofessional colleagues, patients, and caregivers.
  • Provide education based on learning needs and family involvement.
  • Promote effective communication among interprofessional team members and healthcare consumers.
  • Influence policy to promote safe patient care.
  • Use appropriate resources when providing care, especially in sensitive situations.
  • Incorporate processes that enhance the organization's growth plan and influence.
  • Participate in developing strategies that promote healthy communities and practice environments.
  • Recognize strategies to improve nursing quality.
  • Critically review and evaluate policies, procedures, and guidelines to improve healthcare quality.
  • Collect and use data appropriately.
  • Disseminate educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers.
  • Engage in activities related to nurse-sensitive indicators to enhance quality of care.
  • Participate in continuing professional development.
  • Identify ethical situations and seek assistance from appropriate colleagues.
  • Identify ways to maintain and improve an ethical environment conducive to safe, quality healthcare.
  • Adhere to patients' moral and legal rights.
  • Complete annual education required for specialty accreditation, where applicable.
  • Work rotating weekends and holidays on 12-hour PM shifts.
