About the role:
As an intern on our process team you’ll contribute to core technology of our current and future CT scanners. You’ll have a mentor for the summer who will show you the ropes and help you learn, contribute and grow. You’ll also have plenty of time in our Boston office to meet and network with team members across Lumafield to learn about the ins and outs of a hypergrowth hardtech startup.
Lumafield’s product is a complex hardware-software system. The Process Team does R&D in and between multiple disciplines. Systems-thinking and the ability to evaluate a problem and the possible solutions from multiple perspectives is essential. Join us!
What you’ll do:
- Work on the core technology enabling Lumafield to deliver its novel CT scanners
- Design and conduct experiments and simulations
- Analyze test data to characterize performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks
- Create working prototypes for new hardware and software features
- Convert scientific understanding into shipping features for customers
- Work closely with your mentor on Lumafield’s process team
- Work out of our Cambridge, MA office
About you:
- Currently studying for an engineering or physics degree
- Experience with Python and/or MATLAB
- Are a well-rounded technical thinker
- Exhibit insatiable curiosity for how things work
- Have a passion for puzzles, able to troubleshoot and get to the bottom of complex issues in hardware, software and sometimes a stubborn mix of both
- Enjoy collaborating within and across teams
- Quickly learn and apply information in a new field of study
- Loves building cool things that make a difference for engineering teams
- Motivated by moving fast, shipping, and getting feedback
