Requirements
- Prior experience in a health care facility.
- Ability to document changes in patients' emotional and physical status on patient care flow sheets.
- Ability to communicate with physicians, nursing staff, visitors, patients, families, and other departments in accordance with the facility's philosophy and service excellence standards.
- Compliance with the Christian Health ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform activities related to implementing nursing care plans and nursing standards, policies, and procedures under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Contribute to the development, evaluation, and reassessment of care plans by observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and physical status.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic unit environment for adult and geriatric patients.
- Supervise or assist with after-meal care, including removing trays and encouraging patients to brush their teeth and wash up.
- Serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated.
- Assist patients in preparing for activities and social programs according to unit program schedules.
- Answer call bells promptly.
- Change bed linens.
- Assist or supervise patients walking with or without self-help devices as instructed.
- Report changes in patients' conditions to the charge or staff nurse as soon as practical.
- Keep floors dry and report spills immediately.
- Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
- Greet and escort patients to their rooms.
- Inform the charge or staff nurse of equipment and supply needs.
- Record supplies and equipment used for appropriate procedures for the charge or staff nurse.
- Assist in transporting patients to and from appointments, activities, and social programs as necessary or assigned.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient-care information.
Desired Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a psychiatric facility.
