Requirements
  • Current appropriate state licensure is required, and the nurse must meet practice requirements in all states employed.
  • Current or successful completion of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • The role requires a minimum of two years of nephrology nursing experience as a registered nurse within the last two years.
  • The position requires the ability to provide direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, assisting with ambulation, prolonged standing, bending, and handling specified equipment and solutions.
  • The position requires travel to training or meeting sites and between assigned facilities.
  • The position requires participation in an on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, holidays, or other program-defined periods.
  • Employees must complete the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; failing the test does not preclude employment and reasonable accommodation may be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Provide and coordinate clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, for an assigned group of patients.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to registered nurses, licensed vocational or practical nurses, and patient care technicians as appropriate.
  • Perform ongoing collection and analysis of patient data before, during, and after treatment; document findings, adjust treatment plans as indicated, and notify appropriate clinical personnel.
  • Assess and document patients’ and families’ basic learning needs and provide initial and ongoing education.
  • Recognize abnormal aspects of patient status and report or collaborate with appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Direct and provide safe, effective patient care for assigned patients according to prescribed modality-specific treatment procedures.
  • Assess daily assigned patient-care needs and collaborate with direct and ancillary patient-care staff.
  • Initiate and coordinate communication with Fresenius Kidney Care and non-Fresenius dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel to provide continuity of care.
  • Implement, administer, monitor, and document patients’ responses to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including notification of physicians and blood suppliers regarding adverse reactions.
  • Administer medications as prescribed and document medical justification and effectiveness.
  • Initiate and assist with emergency-response measures.
  • Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for new and incumbent employees by modeling appropriate behavior, work habits, and attitudes.
  • Provide specialized nursing-care instructions to hospital or facility staff when contractually required.
  • Assist in an outpatient facility as needed.
  • Serve as a preceptor to new employees.
  • Complete Clinical Advancement Program requirements to maintain or advance status.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
