Massachusetts: workers at Encore Boston Harbor go on strike.

Massachusetts: workers at Encore Boston Harbor go on strike. Friday, September 4, 2026 9:49 AM Photo: Teamsters Local 25 photo Email, LinkedIn, and more More than 1,300 Encore Boston Harbor workers went on strike Friday after contract talks with casino owner Wynn Resorts broke down. The workers, part of labor Union United Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, voted in August to authorize a strike. Their contract with Wynn Resorts expired on August 31 and a new contract has yet to be negotiated. According to the Teamsters Union, Encore management refused to come back to the bargaining table and offer any meaningful improvements, even after the strike-authorization vote. Encore's union workforce is seeking a contract with better wages, stronger benefits, and enhanced job protections. The resort near Boston took in an estimated $847 million in revenue last year, the unions said in a statement. "The unions have chosen to initiate a strike despite our continued efforts to reach an agreement through negotiations," the company said in a statement emailed to CDC Gaming. "We are committed to finding common ground that is fair, financially sustainable, and protects jobs for the long term," the company said. "Encore Boston Harbor remains open and operational, and we stand ready to service our guests while we continue negotiations." According to figures released by Encore, average compensation and benefits for union represented employees exceeds $95,000 per year. Over the past four years, union wages and benefits have increased 36.8%, while revenue has grown 1.9%. The casino says 86% of union employees are proud to work at Encore Boston Harbor, 83% plan to stay, and voluntary turnover is 3.9%. Last month, Wynn reported second-quarter operating revenue from Encore Boston Harbor of $209.3 million, down $6.4 million from $215.7 million for the second quarter of 2025. Table games win percentage for the second quarter was 18.1%, within the property's expected range of 18% to 22% and below the 21.3% experienced in the second quarter of 2025. Thomas Mari, president of Local 25, criticized Encore management for slow-walking negotiations, while playing games with union members. "Now they're going to see how big of a mistake that was," Mari said. "When a company refuses to respect the workers who make its profits possible, we shut it down." The workers on strike include 211 Teamsters who work in the warehouse, horticulture, call center, cage cashiers, limo drivers, dispatchers, traffic attendants, valet, and guest experience attendants. "We didn't want to strike, but we won't accept a contract that blatantly disrespects our labor," James Atkins, lead gardener and chief steward at Local 25, said in a statement. "We're on the picket line and will stay out as long as it takes to get a fair deal."

Wynn Resorts stock holds near post-earnings levels as Encore labor dispute looms. Published on 09/03/2026 at 22:52 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWS Wynn Resorts stock is trading around the low-90-dollar mark after a solid second-quarter earnings beat, while a planned strike at Encore Boston Harbor adds a fresh operational test for the casino operator. Wynn Resorts (ISIN US9831341030) stock is trading around 91.52 dollars as of September 3, 2026, keeping close to levels reached after its latest quarterly earnings beat highlighted steady growth across its casino portfolio according to recent market data. Encore Boston Harbor strike adds tension. Operational risks have come into sharper focus as more than 1,300 employees at Encore Boston Harbor in Massachusetts plan to go on strike, with unions announcing the work stoppage for early September 2026 after their contract with Wynn Resorts expired, according to a report by GBH News on September 3, 2026. The unions are seeking wage increases of 10 dollars over three years for non-tipped staff and 5 dollars for tipped employees, a demand that could lift labor costs at the Boston property if agreed. The planned strike comes just days after the previous contract ended, and negotiations remain unresolved per the same GBH News coverage, underscoring that Wynn Resorts must balance employee pay expectations with profitability at Encore Boston Harbor. A spokesperson for the company stated it remains committed to negotiating a fair agreement that supports employees while keeping the business strong in the long term, signaling that management is aiming to avoid prolonged disruption at the East Coast casino. Earnings beat supports Wynn Resorts stock. The current share price sits on the back of a solid second-quarter 2026 earnings report, where Wynn Resorts reported adjusted earnings per share of 1.24 dollars, beating a consensus estimate of 1.01 dollars by 0.23 dollars, as summarized by Zacks on September 3, 2026. Quarterly operating revenue reached 1.86 billion dollars in Q2 2026, up 6.9 percent from 1.74 billion dollars in the prior-year quarter, showing mid-single-digit top-line growth. Segment figures underline where the growth is coming from: Wynn Palace in Macau generated operating revenues of 653.4 million dollars in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 539.6 million dollars a year earlier, which is an increase of about 21.1 percent according to the Zacks summary. In contrast, Encore Boston Harbor saw operating revenues of 209.3 million dollars in Q2 2026, down from 215.7 million dollars in the prior-year quarter, illustrating that the Boston property slightly lagged the broader group's revenue trajectory even before the current labor dispute. For the consolidated business, Adjusted Property EBITDAR in the second quarter of 2026 totaled 568.3 million dollars, up from 552.4 million dollars in the year-ago period, while net income attributable to Wynn Resorts climbed from 66.2 million dollars to 140.1 million dollars, according to the same Zacks-based report. Management also declared a cash dividend of 0.25 dollars per share payable on August 28, 2026, reinforcing Wynn Resorts' willingness to return capital to shareholders following the improved earnings performance. Analyst view and stock performance context. Analyst coverage reflects cautious optimism, with market data compiled by MarketBeat on September 3, 2026 indicating that Wynn Resorts is trading at 91.52 dollars and that sell-side analysts forecast full-year earnings per share of around 4.55 dollars for the current fiscal year. The same MarketBeat overview notes that recent earnings of 1.24 dollars per share exceeded consensus estimates by roughly 0.25 dollars, confirming the scale of the beat that supported the share price after the report. Other data providers echo the revenue and profit trend: figures compiled by INDmoney for Q2 2026 show total revenue of 1.856 billion dollars, essentially matching the 1.86 billion dollars highlighted by Zacks, and indicate that net profit has risen from about 66.21 million dollars in recent quarters to 140.06 million dollars, implying that net profit has more than doubled over that span. The same INDmoney overview also points out that Wynn Resorts shares jumped about 7 percent following the Q2 2026 earnings release, a move that put the stock closer to the low-90-dollar band where it continues to trade as of early September 2026. From a comparative perspective, a Q2 rundown published on September 3, 2026 contrasts Wynn Resorts with other USlisted casino operators and notes that Wynn Resorts delivered the fastest revenue growth among a peer group, achieving 6.9 percent yearover-year revenue expansion and beating EPS expectations while the stock trades at around 90.65 dollars. This peer analysis highlights that despite a solid quarter, Wynn Resorts shares were down about 7.1 percent since reporting, suggesting that investors remain sensitive to execution risks, valuation, and macro factors even as fundamentals improve. More background on Wynn Resorts. For additional figures, historical results and regulatory filings on Wynn Resorts, the ISINbased overview offers a deeper view of the casino operator's stock and fundamentals. Flagship properties and customer mix. Beyond the Boston dispute, Wynn Resorts' performance is anchored by its flagship properties in Las Vegas and Macau, which continue to attract highspending guests. In Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas and Encore posted operating revenues of 643.2 million dollars in the second quarter of 2026, slightly above the 638.6 million dollars recorded in the prior-year period according to the Zacks recap, showing modest growth in the US luxury casino segment. In Macau, the combination of Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau delivered operating revenues of 653.4 million dollars and 351.1 million dollars respectively in Q2 2026, compared with 539.6 million dollars and 343.8 million dollars a year earlier according to the same source, making the Cotai and peninsula properties key drivers of overall revenue expansion. The strong Macau performance indicates that Wynn Resorts is benefiting from the ongoing recovery of outbound travel and premium gaming demand in the region, offering diversification away from USonly exposure. Stock level and investor perspective. As of September 3, 2026, Wynn Resorts stock is quoted around 91.52 dollars on NASDAQ according to MarketBeat and other stock portals, keeping it near the 90dollar range highlighted in recent peer comparisons. For investors, the combination of a clear earnings beat, a dividend of 0.25 dollars per share in late August 2026, and improving Macau results sits alongside the near-term risk of a strike at Encore Boston Harbor, making labor developments in Massachusetts an important factor to watch alongside quarterly numbers. Affinity Interactive adds three to board as Primm Valley deal completes. Primm Valley Casino Resorts is now in the hands of Terrible's, run by the Herbst family. August 11, 2026 Industry News Affinity Interactive has completed the transition of Primm Valley Casino Resorts to Terrible's amid the addition of three new directors to its board. The deal comes after members of the Primm family agreed a deal with Terrible's in June to take over Primm Valley Resorts, Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino, Whiskey Pete's Hotel & Casino, the Primm Center and the Flying J truck stop. Affinity Interactive, which was the previous owner, revealed plans in May to cease operations at Primm Valley Casino Resorts on July 4, but the rescue package has now been ratified. Brad Oates, chairman of Stone Advisors, has also joined the board alongside Adam Paul, who has over 25 years of experience advising boards, special committees, investors and executive leadership. Affinity said the appointments add "decades of experience across gaming, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory affairs, strategic transactions and enterprise leadership."

Nevada's money laundering scandals have quieted, but that doesn't mean the problems have been solved.

Nevada's money laundering scandals have quieted, but that doesn't mean the problems have been solved. Monday, August 10, 2026 7:52 PM * Brian Joseph, Casino Reports Email, LinkedIn, and more No regulatory issue today looms larger for Las Vegas casinos than anti-money laundering. Nevada regulators have fined five of gaming's biggest brands - Genting Berhad, MGM, Wynn, Caesars, and The Venetian - millions of dollars over the last two years for AML violations at Strip properties. Every Nevada Gaming Control Board and Nevada Gaming Commission meeting these days seems to bring another speech about the need to make AML a priority, even as casino executives profusely apologize and pledge their commitment to compliance. "We know that this entire matter has been a stain on the state and we're embarrassed that we're part of it," Caesars CEO Tom Reeg said last year.
