Requirements
  • Prior experience in accounting, sales, telesales, service, or guest relations is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Honesty and trustworthiness are essential, and the position requires passing appropriate security clearances under company policy.
  • The ability to stand, lift, bend, learn, read, concentrate, think, and communicate is required.
  • The ability to push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift or carry 30 pounds unassisted is required.
  • The ability to stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, reach, see, and hear is required.
  • Knowledge of Manager on Duty functions, cash and credit card handling, balancing charges, safety and security measures, hotel property information, the Frequent Stay Program, reservations procedures, phone etiquette, local area information, and daily hotel operations is required.
  • Computer literacy sufficient to operate the property management system, post charges, compute bills, collect payments, and make change is required.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English is required.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills are required.
  • The ability to multitask, remain associate- and guest-service focused, communicate information accurately, assist with guest issues professionally, and work productively without supervision overnight is required.
  • The ability to work any day or shift, including weekends, and to work a night-shift schedule is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent guest service efficiently, courteously, and professionally while following hospitality standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Execute selling strategies to enhance hotel revenue.
  • Act as Manager on Duty and oversee total front-office operations during late evening and early morning hours.
  • Respond immediately to guest requests and maintain thorough communication with management staff.
  • Greet and register guests, provide room assignments, maintain guest privacy, and accommodate special requests when possible.
  • Promote and sell hotel services and amenities.
  • Promote repeat business by taking future reservations and recommending alternate same-brand products.
  • Identify potential sales leads through guest interaction and report them to the appropriate person.
  • Keep housekeeping and other departments informed about special requests, late check-outs, and special-needs areas.
  • Check all credit cards for validity before the end of the shift.
  • Learn and use the property management system.
  • Ensure that cash, checks, and miscellaneous departments are balanced at the end of each shift.
  • Help maintain a clean and professional lobby and dining area, including dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning tables.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and follow emergency procedures.
  • Practice safety standards, remain alert to hazardous conditions, and report or correct hazards immediately.
  • Report unusual occurrences or requests to the manager.
  • Maintain stock and cleanliness of the Market area when applicable.
  • Maintain certification from a responsible vendor training program when alcohol is served.
  • Follow approved laundry procedures when applicable, including operating washers and dryers and folding linen according to standards.
  • Assist in other departments, including laundry, housekeeping, or food and beverage, as assigned.
