Requirements
  • Rising junior, senior or grad student studying computer science, geography, intelligence analysis, or other relevant degree.
  • Prior experience using Python.
  • Prior experience with geospatial and/or imagery analysis programs such as QGIS, ESRI Suite, SOCET GXP, ENVI, or ERDAS Imagine.
  • Understanding of geospatial data formats, coordinate systems, and management practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Responsibilities
  • Assist First to Know team in identifying important global events or locations to monitor.
  • Submit and manage tasks for imagery collection.
  • Generate imagery or GIS analysis products.
  • Manage geospatial data, including conducting quality checks and maintaining version control.
  • Adapt/develop lightweight Python scripts.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with imagery interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of how to use APIs.
  • Experience using Python outside of ESRI workflows.

BlackSky Acquires Full Control of LeoStella

BlackSky has acquired full ownership of smallsat manufacturer LeoStella by purchasing the 50% stake from Thales Alenia Space. This acquisition, completed on Nov. 6, aims to enhance control over the production of BlackSky's next-gen Gen-3 imaging satellites, which offer improved resolution and capabilities. The first Gen-3 satellite is in final testing and will be launched from New Zealand. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
