Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate is required.
  • At least two years of experience through on-the-job training firing high-pressure boilers, or at least two years of experience with industrial air-conditioning and heating systems, is required.
  • The role requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 60 pounds, pushing up to 300 pounds, bending, crouching, reaching, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and manual dexterity for equipment repairs.
  • Normal vision and hearing are required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance according to established Engineering practices on industrial boilers, chillers, heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning equipment.
  • Adjust the environmental control system as necessary to maintain an appropriate environment.
  • Operate industrial boilers, chillers, and associated equipment.
  • Repair and maintain HVAC equipment and heating and air-conditioning systems, or operate and maintain boilers, chillers, and associated equipment.
  • Complete necessary repairs on assigned equipment promptly to minimize disruptions affecting patients and staff services.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance using current professional standards and provide legible written documentation according to Engineering procedures.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and remedy environmental problems to provide a healthful and pleasant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Submit material requisitions and appropriate information according to Engineering procedures for repairing or replacing assigned equipment.
  • Provide occasional in-service training to hospital staff on the proper use and care of selected equipment, such as control systems.
