Requirements
  • A PhD or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or Operations Research, covering advanced statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Experience with natural language processing techniques, including transformers, fine-tuning large language models, measuring and benchmarking models, and deploying large language models using HuggingFace, LangChain, LLaMA/Mistral, OpenAI, and vector databases.
  • At least 9 years of hands-on data science or artificial intelligence experience using pandas, scikit-learn, Keras, NLTK, TensorFlow or PyTorch, and graphics processing units.
  • Experience building production-grade machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience working with Apache Spark and large-scale distributed datasets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with urgency.

Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders in Research and Development, Operations, and product management to assess the potential value and risks of business problems that may be solved using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.
  • Develop an exploratory data analysis approach to verify initial hypotheses for potential artificial intelligence and machine learning use cases.
  • Document the approach, reasoning, and results using standard methods so other data scientists can collaborate.
  • Prepare the final trained model and develop a validation test set for quality assurance.
  • Work with production operations to deploy the model into production and support monitoring of model performance.
  • Collaborate with other data science teams and peers to support their projects.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions to bring new insights and technologies to the team.
  • Participate in design sessions to continuously develop and improve the machine learning platform.
  • Provide end-to-end value-based solutions, including the data pipeline, model creation, and application for end-user consumption.
  • Complete responsibilities outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal-setting process.
  • Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
