What believers are saying

  • ABM says WGNSTAR strengthens semiconductor technical services and cleanroom capabilities on February 4, 2025.
  • Chip fabs keep expanding in Arizona, Ohio, and Ireland, supporting outsourced staffing demand.
  • WGNSTAR's embedded workforce model helps clients avoid hiring freezes and accelerate tool uptime.

What critics are saying

  • ABM now owns WGNSTAR; integration failures by 2026 can erase the standalone brand.
  • Semiconductor customers slash outsourced labor first during capex downturns, pressuring margins quickly.
  • Concentrated exposure to fabs creates existential risk if Intel, TSMC, or Micron reshuffle vendors.

What makes WGNSTAR unique

  • WGNSTAR built semiconductor fab services combining workforce, tool relocation, and cleanroom operations.
  • ABM completed the $275 million acquisition on February 4, 2025, adding infrastructure scale.
  • Its Irish roots and PSS and NSTAR deals created multilingual, cross-border delivery depth.

Kuehnle AgroSystems closes Series B for dark fermentation astaxanthin production

Kuehnle AgroSystems (KAS), a Hawaiian algal biotechnology company, has closed a multi-million-dollar Series B funding round led by IVC, with participation from existing investors S2G Investments and Hatch Blue, plus new investor Dest EOOD. The company produces natural astaxanthin using proprietary dark fermentation technology. The capital will fund scaling manufacturing for aquaculture and human nutrition markets, securing global regulatory approvals, and expanding commercial partnerships. Earlier this year, KAS produced what it claims is the world's first natural astaxanthin oleoresin through dark fermentation at industrial scale, in collaboration with manufacturing partner Biorea. The company has a strategic partnership with food ingredients supplier Corbion to develop esterified astaxanthin for the salmon feed market. KAS says the global astaxanthin market is valued at around $2 billion and forecast to grow 15% annually over the coming decade.
