Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering
  • Six or more years of related work experience
  • Experience in advancing designs from initial concept through production
  • Considerable experience designing electrical control panels with voltages up to 48VDC, 480VAC 3F, and associated transformers, fusing, wiring and connectors
  • Experience working in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience with regulatory agency (UL, NFPA, etc.) requirements and experience designing with industrial safety devices (specification and wiring)
  • A detailed understanding and ability to troubleshoot analog, digital and power electronic circuits, including static, noise, ground noise, EMI/EMC and supply noise
  • Experience developing and maintaining electrical designs in AutoCAD
  • Skilled at circuit design and analysis including AC, DC, frequency and time domain
  • Skilled with lab tools including DMM, Oscilloscope, Current Meters and Logic/Bus Analyzer
  • Experience with PLCs using TIA Portal or CODESYS is preferred
  • Familiar with effectively working with customers, component suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Able to set aggressive but feasible schedules/milestones for your own work, and achieve them
  • Able to think strategically about risk; design, manufacturing, reliability, and mitigations thereof
  • High level of technical writing proficiency
Responsibilities
  • Internalize the notion of ownership and display the qualities of a self-starter and proactive problem solver on a cross-disciplinary product team
  • Deeply understand existing customer operational needs and constraints to define sub-system requirements
  • Design practical solutions both quickly and carefully, independently preempting issues of manufacturability and future maintenance
  • Design and execute tests to disambiguate between candidate solutions, find the best approach, and convince the team of your conclusion
  • Transform tested conceptual solutions into robust product designs in coordination with engineering operations, the customer and contract manufacturers
  • Develop production and support documentation including bills of material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions
  • Hands-on prototyping, utilizing shop tools and equipment to quickly iterate ideas and solutions
  • Travel to suppliers and customers as necessary to support build and installation of system
  • Collaborate with suppliers, machinists, contract manufacturers, and shippers to guarantee on-time delivery and deployment for fully assembled, functional, and tested electromechanical systems to customer facilities
  • Perform test and verification of prototype systems
  • Perform system design analyses, including reliability, design-for-manufacture, design-for assembly, cost-takeout, etc
  • Support large deployed fleets of robots leading root cause analysis and failure prevention
  • Working with and leading technician teams
