- Responsible for maintaining equipment, carts and closets daily.
- Cleans and services patient rooms, offices, lavatories, conference rooms, lounges, exam rooms, on-call rooms, clean and dirty utility rooms, showers daily.
- Trash removal, vacuuming carpets, dry mop and wet mop floors, high and low dusting of furniture, walls, ledges and fixtures.
- Refills paper towel, toilet paper, seat cover and soap dispensers daily.
- Knowledgeable of all environmental cleaning products (chemicals) and their proper usage (dilutions) as per manufacturer's recommendations.
- Notifies supervisor immediately of any injuries (accidents), safety issues or serious personnel situation.
- Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting of patient rooms upon discharge, as well as, cycle cleaning of isolation rooms as per department and infection control standards.
- Cleans operating rooms between cases, terminally clean OR rooms at end of day.
- Collects trash from dirty utility room and disposes of same.Removes all cardboard and disposes of same.Collects regulated waste and transports to storage trailer.
- Responsible for removal and hanging of cubicle curtains, when necessary.
- Must be flexible in assuming required assignments and able to show good judgment and initiative.
- Performs related duties as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Environmental Services experience in a hospital, preferred.

Northwell Health named most awarded NY tri-state health system for sixth consecutive year. Northwell Health has been recognized as the most awarded health system in the New York tri-state area for the sixth consecutive year, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings announced on Aug. 4. Eight Northwell hospitals were listed among the best in New York state, with six - North Shore University Hospital (NSUH), Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center, Lenox Hill Hospital, Huntington Hospital, South Shore University Hospital (SSUH), and Glen Cove Hospital - earning a combined total of 30 adult specialties ranked among the top 50 nationally. NSUH and LIJ were ranked fourth and fifth best hospitals in New York by U.S. News, while Lenox Hill was eighth. Other Northwell hospitals included Huntington (11th), SSUH (12th), Northern Westchester Hospital (16th), Staten Island University Hospital (18th), and Vassar Brothers Medical Center (20th). John D'Angelo, MD, Northwell's president and CEO, said: "For the sixth consecutive year, Northwell Health has had more hospitals recognized among the nation's best than any other health system in the tri-state area. U.S. News also introduced regional rankings this year across four specialties: cancer, cardiology, orthopedics and rehabilitation - with multiple Northwell hospitals receiving regional honors alongside Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Staten Island University Hospital. HHC names new Cancer Institute physician-in-chief. July 28, 2026 Nationally recognized hematologic oncologist and physician executive Adam M. Boruchov, MD, will join Hartford HealthCare in July as physician-in-chief of the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute. Dr. Boruchov succeeds Peter Yu, MD, who is stepping down after more than a decade of leadership and will transition to the honorary role of physician-in-chief emeritus. Dr. Yu has played a pivotal role in building the Cancer Institute into a leading integrated cancer program known for clinical excellence, innovation and patient-centered care across Connecticut. In his emeritus role, Dr. Yu will continue advancing strategic oncology informatics initiatives in partnership with Hartford HealthCare leadership. Dr. Boruchov joins Hartford HealthCare from Northwell Health, formerly Nuvance Health, where he served as senior vice president and chair of the Cancer Institute. His career also includes leadership positions at Trinity Health of New England. He has extensive experience leading systemwide oncology strategy, expanding clinical research and trials, and developing high-performing cancer networks. Dr. Boruchov earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. Northwell breaks with Fidelis as hospital-insurer disputes become the new normal. July 24, 2026 06:00 AM EDT Northwell Health, the state's largest hospital system, ended its relationship with insurer Fidelis Care last week after failing to reach an agreement on payment rates - a break-up that has left 240,000 patients without in-network access to their hospitals or doctors.
Building sustainable digital prosthetic workflows in Guyana. Articles Jul 15, 2026 PVA Med recently partnered with Northwell Health to donate an Emergence PRO(TM) V3 3D Printer to the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre in Georgetown, Guyana. Along with the donation, its team spent two days providing hands-on training to help clinicians, technicians, and therapists confidently implement a sustainable digital prosthetic workflow. Rather than simply donating new technology, the goal was to build a workflow that clinicians could confidently continue using long after the training concluded. By focusing on practical solutions that complemented their existing clinical process, the team helped establish a foundation for long-term success. Building confidence through hands-on training. Training covered every step of the digital workflow, from scanning and model preparation to 3D printing and fitting a WalkStrong(TM) check socket. The first day focused on introducing the digital workflow while giving participants hands-on experience with scanning techniques, printer operation, and routine maintenance. On the second day, the team completed the entire process with an actual patient, allowing clinicians to practice scanning, printing, and fitting in a real clinical setting. This hands-on approach gave participants the confidence to begin incorporating digital fabrication into their existing workflow while immediately seeing the benefits in practice. Building on an existing workflow. One of the most important goals of the training was developing a workflow that fit the rehabilitation centre's current resources and day-to-day operations. Rather than replacing their traditional plaster process, clinicians learned how to continue using familiar casting and hand-modification techniques before scanning the finished plaster model into Rapid Plaster(R). From there, the WalkStrong(TM) attachment was added, and the check socket was produced using the Emergence PRO(TM) V3. This hybrid approach allows the rehabilitation centre to begin incorporating digital fabrication without completely changing the workflow they already know and trust, making adoption more practical and sustainable. Supporting long-term success. This project extends far beyond the initial training. Northwell Health will continue supporting the rehabilitation centre through ongoing collaboration, virtual follow-up meetings, and future on-site visits. This continued partnership helps ensure clinicians have the resources and guidance needed as they continue integrating digital fabrication into patient care. The rehabilitation centre also benefits from several advantages the Emergence PRO(TM) V3 brings to its clinical environment, including faster socket production, lighter check sockets, a compact footprint that fits within limited workspace, and the ability to produce components for rehabilitation devices beyond prosthetics, such as replacement parts for canes and wheelchairs. Looking ahead. By combining the Emergence PRO(TM) V3, Rapid Plaster(R), WalkStrong(TM), and comprehensive hands-on training, PVA Med and Northwell Health are helping establish a sustainable digital workflow that expands access to prosthetic and rehabilitation care in Guyana. This project reflects its commitment to supporting clinicians not only through innovative technology, but through education, collaboration, and long-term partnerships that create lasting impact. Northwell Health to anchor new building at Station Yards. Northwell Health has leased 30,000 square feet of medical office space that will anchor a new mixed-use building at Station Yards in Ronkonkoma. The health system aims to create a multi-disciplinary practice facility on the ground floor of one of three new buildings planned as the next phase of the $1.3 billion project across from the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station. Master developer Tritec Real Estate has begun demolition to ready the 6.72-acre development site bordered by Union Avenue and Carroll Avenue for what it calls Phase 2C at Station Yards, which will bring 285 apartments and the Northwell facility to three new five-story buildings. The investment for the new phase, designed by Marc Spector of Woodbury-based Spector Companies, is estimated at $175 million, according to Tritec. "We are thrilled to welcome Northwell Health to Station Yards," Jimmy Coughlan, Tritec president, told LIBN. "Their investment and belief in Ronkonkoma strengthens our vision of creating a true mixed-use destination by bringing new jobs, increased daytime activity, and essential healthcare services to the community. As more employees, patients, and visitors come to Station Yards each day, our retailers, restaurants, and local businesses will benefit from the steady energy and economic vitality that help great downtowns thrive." Northwell is the largest commercial tenant so far to lease space at Station Yards. Construction on the newest Station Yards buildings is expected to start this fall and take about 18 months to complete.
