Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in cost engineering, specifically in data center hardware or related industries
  • Strong understanding of data center hardware components, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment
  • In-depth knowledge of custom silicon chip design and manufacturing cost structures
  • Expertise in PCB design and manufacturing cost analysis
  • Proficiency in cost modeling tools and techniques for hardware components
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills related to hardware cost optimization
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex hardware cost information clearly
  • Experience with supply chain management and procurement processes for hardware component
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost models for data center hardware components, including custom silicon chips, PCBs, and overall system assemblies
  • Analyze and forecast costs related to materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics for hardware components
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify cost-saving opportunities in hardware design and manufacturing processes
  • Conduct competitive cost analysis and benchmark our hardware products against industry standards
  • Develop strategies to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for our data center hardware customers
  • Work closely with procurement teams to negotiate favorable terms with hardware suppliers and manufacturers
  • Provide regular cost analysis reports and recommendations on hardware components to senior management
  • Stay updated on industry trends and cost-saving innovations in data center hardware technologies.
