Requirements
  • A minimum high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of management or equivalent experience is required.
  • Experience in warehousing, customer service, purchasing or inventory control, and industrial distribution is required; original equipment manufacturer and maintenance, repair, and operations experience is desirable.
  • Experience in the hose or fluid power industry is desirable.
  • Demonstrated competency in hiring, developing, and evaluating staff is required.
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communication, and negotiating skills are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • The candidate must not be restricted by an applicable non-compete or non-solicitation agreement.
  • The candidate must be able to travel to customer sites as needed, use a computer keyboard, lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform bending, stooping, and twisting as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily branch operations to ensure processes, work instructions, and safety protocols are followed.
  • Establish process procedures and measurement standards for each associate.
  • Maintain balanced product flow and eliminate backlogs or starved processes.
  • Deploy resources to eliminate problem areas and ensure operations are timely and accurate.
  • Track and display key branch metrics on the team board.
  • Follow the hiring process and prioritize it until positions are filled.
  • Follow performance-management processes through termination when necessary.
  • Develop and implement a training strategy for continuous branch-team training and improvement.
  • Mentor and coach future leaders and managers.
  • Identify performance deficiencies using internal measurements, quality improvement reports, customer complaints, and observation.
  • Lead regular team meetings to identify deficiencies, root causes, and corrective actions using QPIP or similar processes.
  • Work with other branch, operations, and department managers.
  • Monitor customer-service levels, resolve local service failures, and take action to maintain service excellence.
  • Investigate customer complaints and make necessary adjustments to satisfy customers.
  • Organize and lead regular team or branch meetings.
  • Monitor and inspect branch key-performance-indicator data collection for accuracy and integrity.
  • Hire and train new team members to fulfill position requirements and comply with company policies.
  • Mentor higher-performing individuals.
  • Resolve conflicts, disputes, and personnel issues with employees, customers, and vendors according to company policies and Clear Talk principles.
  • Communicate and reinforce the corporate mission, vision, brand pillars, and values at the branch level.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with current and new customers.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventative-maintenance program for branch equipment.
  • Work with vendors to improve relationships, maximize sales, and increase profitability.
