Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience is required.
  • Proficiency with fractions and decimals is required.
  • Ability to use a Windows personal computer is required.
  • Candidates must own welders, a combination square, a framing square, a tape measure, a welding hood, and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to weld in the 1G position using a manual welding process is required.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate large structures for custom machines.
  • Prepare steel for welding.
  • Follow blueprints to prepare layouts.
  • Drill and tap holes.
  • Perform gas metal arc welding (MIG).
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Operate a jigsaw, belt sander, band saw, and other power tools.
  • Operate 4.5-inch and 7-inch angle grinders.
  • Operate a Matobo cut-off wheel.
  • Operate 5-ton and 10-ton overhead cranes and other industrial equipment.
  • Perform oxy-fuel cutting and plasma torching.
  • Identify potential design problems and work with engineers to find solutions.
  • Clean the work area at the end of each shift.
