Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • The candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • For work in the United States, the candidate must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • The candidate must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
  • The candidate must be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency if required by the customer or role access.
  • The candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds or more regularly and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
  • The candidate must be able to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs.
  • The candidate must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods.
  • The candidate must be able to work in cramped or high places.
  • The candidate must be able to remain alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.
  • The candidate must be able to work outside in all types of weather and around jet and machinery noises.
  • The candidate must communicate information and instructions verbally or via radio equipment effectively with flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew.
  • The candidate must have basic math skills for calculating aircraft weight and balance.
  • The candidate must have computer skills for using computer systems to track cargo and baggage.
  • The candidate must have problem-solving skills to troubleshoot loading and unloading issues.
  • The candidate must have time-management skills to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The candidate must complete all required training.
  • The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Guide inbound and outbound airplanes to and from the gate.
  • Transport, lift, load, unload, sort, and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail in and out of aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts safely.
  • Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage, or destruction.
  • Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment while maintaining visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of danger.
  • Operate or drive motorized equipment such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, pushback tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, and deicers.
  • Manually push and pull push carts and containers.
  • Operate equipment to move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.
  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.
  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other passenger property.
  • Prepare records connected with cargo and baggage responsibilities.
  • Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments and enter data into the company's information system as required.
  • Follow company procedures and protocols to operate safely and responsibly.
  • Take reasonable care for workplace health, wellbeing, safety, and security.
  • Cooperate with managers or supervisors to support compliance with company legal requirements.
  • Report hazardous work situations, equipment, or activities representing serious or immediate danger.
  • Report hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, and dangerous occurrences to a manager or supervisor.
  • Carry out work according to provided information, training, and health, safety, security, and welfare procedures.
  • Understand and follow AGI health, safety, and security policies.
  • Attend training courses required by AGI, the airport governing authority, or the customer.
