Requirements
  • Master’s degree required, preferable in higher education, social work, counseling, communication or related field.
  • At least three years of general experience in Child Welfare, Higher Education or another related field.
  • Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
  • All employees share the responsibility of maintaining information security and privacy requirements within the university by adhering to Federal and State regulations, and TWU Policies & Procedures.
  • Knowledge of student development theory, retention and persistence strategies, and best practices in student success programming within higher education.
  • Knowledge of issues impacting students with foster care experience navigating barriers to higher education.
  • Knowledge of case management practices, crisis response procedures, trauma-informed care, and resource referral processes.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, and grant requirements related to student support services.
  • Skill in developing, implementing, and assessing student success programs, workshops, outreach initiatives, and engagement activities.
  • Skill in leadership, supervision, staff development, and performance management for professional and student staff.
  • Skill in data collection, assessment, reporting, strategic planning, and use of student engagement or case management systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, community partners, and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and complex student situations with professionalism, discretion, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced student services environment.
Responsibilities
  • Supports and provides direct support to students through success coaching, advocacy, resource referrals, crisis response, and individualized case management.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements programs and initiatives that support student retention, persistence, engagement, and graduation outcomes.
  • Assists with the administration, tracking, compliance, and reporting of Coordinating Board grants and other funded initiatives.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates success coaches, student workers, peer mentors, graduate assistants, or assigned staff.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops, training, and educational programming focused on life skills, financial literacy, leadership development, wellness, academic success, and career readiness.
  • Maintains student engagement records, assessment data, case management documentation, and program reports to evaluate program effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Collaborates with campus departments, community agencies, nonprofit organizations, and external partners to strengthen student support services and resource accessibility.
  • Coordinates outreach, communication, and engagement efforts through presentations, events, social media, newsletters, websites, and campus programming.
  • Represents the Foster Care Alumni Success Center on University committees, task forces, community partnerships, and student success initiatives while assisting with policy development, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts.
