Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis on water resources.
  • Zero to two years of experience in water resources design and stormwater quality design.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer is desired.
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CulvertMaster, HY8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, SewerGems, and EPA SWMM is preferred.
  • An Engineering Intern Certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform roadway drainage design, including hydrology and hydraulics for roadside ditches, curb and gutter sections, complex storm sewer design with utility conflicts, retrofitting storm sewer design, and coordination with existing downstream systems.
  • Perform stormwater quality and detention design, including post-construction stormwater quality control measures recommended by CDOT and MHFD, construction control measures for sediment and erosion control, and MS4 permit requirements.
  • Perform bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis, including sizing proposed structures, analyzing existing structures, conducting scour analysis, designing scour protection for minor to major outfalls, and designing scour countermeasures for bridges.
  • Perform floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS 1D and 2D to support floodplain development permit applications, and prepare Conditional Letter of Map Revision and Letter of Map Revision applications for FEMA.
  • Use computer-aided engineering design software to prepare plans, profiles, details, quantity tabulations, construction costs, reports, and specifications.
  • Support construction projects by reviewing submittals, answering requests for information, and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
