Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver's license issued in the employee's state of residence is required.
  • Successful completion of Fresenius Biomedical Technician training within the first 24 months of service is required for continued employment.
  • Less than one year of related experience is required.
  • Manual dexterity is required, including the ability to use common hand tools and small power equipment.
  • The role requires good verbal and written communication skills.
  • The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely move large or bulky equipment.
  • The role requires the ability to create a safe and efficient work environment while following OSHA, 6S, and infection-control practices.
  • Employees must take the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.
  • The role requires availability for evening, weekend, and holiday work and scheduled after-hours technical on-call coverage.
  • The role may involve exposure to chemicals, infectious materials, high-voltage equipment, and outdoor elements; personal protective equipment is provided.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair dialysis equipment, ancillary equipment, and water-treatment systems.
  • Maintain the physical plant as directed.
  • Ensure outside vendor services are completed according to contract.
  • Purchase and retain an inventory of service parts.
  • Perform, evaluate, and report water and dialysate sample collection and take any required actions.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly trend analysis on the water system to ensure it functions as designed.
  • Document all repair and maintenance activity.
  • Assist in planning and installing biomedical equipment to ensure safe and effective facility operation.
  • Transport equipment as needed with supervisor consent.
  • Participate in monthly technical and regulatory meetings.
  • Collaborate with facility staff to ensure regulatory and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements are met.
  • Manage inventory, including receiving and storing deliveries, conducting inventory counts, transporting goods between clinics as needed, and assisting clinical management with inventory costs.
  • Perform initial and annual verification and ongoing monitoring of patient-care staff's technique for testing the water system, ensuring tests and documentation comply with manufacturers' specifications for the devices and test equipment used.
  • Complete all technical training programs required by state and federal regulations and company policy.
  • Provide scheduled after-hours technical on-call coverage for the clinics as needed.
  • Train and educate colleagues on operational maintenance of dialysis machines to support patient safety.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate Degree in electronics or biomedical technology, or equivalent, is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in a mechanical, automotive, construction, dialysis, or medical technical setting is preferred but not required.
